Avatar 12:36pm Philo Gristle:

Quick greetings, awl! Thought I'd drop in just to try it out even though I can't listen in to the obviously fantastic show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm listener james from westwood:

"error-free copy": very glad we never had that happen, else i'd be out of one of my job functions!
  12:36pm ndbob:

@kat Lovely! Just saw it now - checking thru your blog to see if I missed other posts
  12:38pm PMD:

How does one get an avatar?
Avatar 12:39pm kat330:

@Bob: Thanks! And that shot was with a super cheap-o video camera, so imagine what it truly looked like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Charlie:

Hey, Philo. Anyone remember on Soupy Sales, Philo Kvetch?
Avatar 12:39pm kat330:

Heeeeyyy, hunaja!
Avatar 12:41pm kat330:

@Charlie: No, but I know of TV pioneer Philo Farnsworth.
Avatar 12:41pm Philo Gristle:

Backatcha, Honey! Hiya Charlie, Bob, James, and everyone else!
Avatar 12:42pm White Fang:

I do....
Avatar 12:42pm kat330:

Hi, LJFW! Shouldn't you also put some clothes on? All you or Bob needs to do (if even interested) is click on someone's avatar and I think you can get to a register page from that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Ike:

@PMD, there's a small link for registration at the top of the playlist.
Avatar 12:44pm Carmichael:

Hey Charlie, how about A Piece of Paper by Gladstone? Early 70s protest music, man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Charlie:

Hey, White Fang, how's Black Tooth?
Avatar 12:44pm Philo Gristle:

Back to the gristly grind. Joe Meek shall inherit the planets. With globbots. Have fun, awl!
Avatar 12:44pm kat330:

White Fang/Michael: Yeah, that's a problem when using an alias. I would like to have a different avatar specifically for one of my other incarnations, but it slaps the same one on everything coming from one's email address.
Avatar 12:44pm kat330:

Moi, moi and MRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSua!
  12:45pm Tower:

Sounds like Mr. Meek was a better producer.
  12:45pm PMD:

Thanks Ike!
Avatar 12:46pm Philo Gristle:

Toodles. Sua tua!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Ike:

@kat330, that's Zero-G. She is named for her jumping skill. I just discovered she has a new zero-gravity ability, which is to make her pills fly out of her mouth, or in any case, vanish and end up on the floor somehow.
Avatar 12:47pm White Fang\:

Throws Pie @ charlie
  12:47pm jan:

@Charlie, I remember Philo Kvetch, what about him? How about Fang? What about Wonderama? Didja grow up in the Greater NY area? or did soupy sales
have wider broadcast range than just New York?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm listener james from westwood:

for an avatar, you can also click "profile settings" at the top of charlie's playlist page, next to the "signed in as XXXXX" line. tho' i rather like the placeholder avatar with the headphones.
Avatar 12:50pm kat330:

This is all really new for me, especially being a non-FB participant, so I'm sure I'll come up with a better avatar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm listener james from westwood:

p.m. dawn is one of those perfect little phenomena where i wonder how the hell earth was ever lucky enough to deserve such an excellent combo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Charlie:

Bye, Philo -- is it too late to say: Shouldn't you be doing the laundry?
Avatar 12:55pm kat330:

@Charlie: Ever heard of Alison Krauss & Union Station's "Paper Airplane" -- or Angus And Julia Stone's "Paper Aeroplane"?
Avatar 12:55pm Sonny Fox:

What about Wonderama, Jan?
  12:56pm Uncle Michael:

Hitting the paper anniversary theme out of the park, Charlie!
Avatar 12:56pm Holly in NC:

Happy anniversary, Charlie! My best avatar is stored on an external drive, so for today you get this. Unfortunately you can't really see that I'm portraying myself as a 17th century courtesan holding an 'obscene image' - but I am ;-)
Avatar 12:57pm kat330:

@Ike: She sure is a sweetie! I had a male orange tabby (Keats, RIP) who would also make incredible vertical leaps straight up to "catch" or touch some curious bit either on the refrigerator or wall.
Avatar 12:57pm kat330:

Hi, Holly! Mollusk avatar!
  12:58pm Uncle Michael:

How are the FB avatars happening?
  12:59pm jan:

Always wanted to be on Wonderama- the prizes seemed so alluring. Well, I never got to act out that fantasy. But I'm making up for it by being on the busy doing nothing comments page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Charlie:

Don't know those, kat -- future show :)
Hi there, Holly!
  1:01pm Brian in UK:

Evening' Charlie & all guests please sign in at the desk.
Bye the bye did Status Quo record 'Paper Planes'? Not a request.
Avatar 1:01pm kat330:

@Charlie: Neither do I, but I was looking for something else and those turned up.

@UM: I think others know better than I, but they are FMU icons -- I can confirm that because I have no FB account.
  1:02pm Listening Out There:

Thx for the Bob & Ray!

This is worse! How does one resize a photo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Uncle Michael:

Maybe I sussed this...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Uncle Michael:

Woo...no more algebra!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Charlie:

Hi Jan, Brian, Uncle Michael!
Avatar 1:06pm kat330:

Heh, Holly, what are you doing to that dawg!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Charlie:

Yep, Jan, grew up in Queens. Watched Wonderama, Soupy Sales, also Chuck McCann...
Avatar 1:10pm Honey Water:

OK, this is the avatar I intended to use for a different FMU persona -- guess I can (and will) now that see the loading page on my account.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Rich in Washington:

Wow. Just now figured out this login thingy.
Hola, everybody!
Great show, Charlie!
Avatar 1:10pm Snortley:

Sonny Fox came to visit my elementary school, said we were a bunch of insufferable brats.
Avatar 1:11pm kat330:

Oh, well, no, it just changes everything your account has ever written for the past couple of weeks into the changed avatar. Oh well, so much for "mystery." :)
Avatar 1:11pm Holly in NC:

@Kat - It's a pig!
  1:11pm Listening Out There:

...he's making it list, and checking it twice...
Avatar 1:11pm kat330:

@Rich: I *love* broccoli!
Avatar 1:13pm kat330:

Oooh, my apologies, Holly! [I plead terrible eyesight as my defense!]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Rich in Washington:

Me too, apparently!
We actually have a cat that loves broccoli.
  1:15pm ndbob:

heya Holly, Rich, everyone else new!
Avatar 1:15pm kat330:

That must be exceptionally rare. I had a cat who enjoyed cantaloupe and a couple who loved popcorn, but that was about as non-protein as my cats ever got.
  1:16pm Brian in UK:

Steamed broccoli heads with ginger for tea tonight. No, seriously. Never met ginger before, heard she can dance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Charlie:

Hi Rich! I used to live with a cat who liked cabbage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Rich in Washington:

We have another that loves pistachios. I'm sitting there shelling them and he's practically batting them out of my hand and eating them before I can.
Avatar 1:18pm Snortley:

I've known a couple of cats that loved to nibble on fresh pot plants.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Uncle Michael:

Charlie, I wanted to be sure to tell you that the Raymond Scott was stellar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Charlie! Cats are surprisingly omnivorous when raised in a house that's about 75% vegan.
@Snortly: I hate when that happens!
  1:19pm Tower:

I'll never forget my sister's cat fishing a whole ear of corn from the still hot pot of water on the stove and running across the kitchen with the ear in it's mouth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Charlie:

Glad you liked that one, Uncle Michael!
Avatar 1:21pm Holly in NC:

@Kat - I had a cat who ADORED cantaloupe, super treat. The 3 current beasts are all basic carnivores, who oddly enough despise fish. When I open sardines they bury scratch at the can!
  1:21pm PMD:

My cat just ate broccoli last night! And french toast the night before. And fake chicken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Uncle Michael:

"I don't do much work anymore. I'm too busy thinking" has sig file written all over it.
  1:23pm Brian in UK:

Avatar 1:25pm kat330:

Cats (and dogs, too) are endless sources of fascination.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Uncle Michael:

I knew we'd here this..but not like *this*.
Avatar 1:25pm kat330:

Anita's better slowed down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Charlie:

she's probably better stopped altogether ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Ike:

It depends on what they are fed when they're kittens, right? I never gave Zero-G my food when she was small so she doesn't usually want it -- usually it's meat or dairy. Naturally she loves cheese and yogurt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Uncle Michael:

As long as she has a pulse, there's room for improvement.
Avatar 1:27pm kat330:

@Charlie: I thought it but wasn't going to be the one who said it. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Charlie:

  1:32pm frenchee:

another fun gambol with Charlie!
wonder if Paper Lace had any paper-themed songs?
Avatar 1:32pm kat330:

@Ike: I think I've only lived with one cat who liked milk. Cheese, yes, but not milk. Maybe out of respect for me since I never cared for milk either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Charlie:

oh! forgot about them, Frenchee!!!
Avatar 1:36pm kat330:

I found an interesting way to celebrate your Paper Anniversary, Chazaloo: While opening the mail just now, I got myself a paper cut. :)
  1:37pm frenchee:

heh, Charlie, that's easy to do. #onehitwonders
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Charlie:

Condolences, kat...
Avatar 1:38pm kat330:

Prognosis is I'm going to live, but thanks.
Avatar 1:40pm Holly in NC:

@kat - same cat who liked cantaloupe liked kahlua in milk - I can't remember how we found out, as household doesn't like or generally serve kahlua or milk. Nonetheless we'd buy a nip bottle for Allie's birthday each year & make her a very wee cocktail ;-)
@shortley - Same cat as above, when slowly dying of indeterminate cancer used to run up to my smoker housemate & gently tap his mouth to remind him to share. She really seemed more comfortable & peaceful after he'd waft a bit of smoke in her face. I was horrified & pissed off until I saw the effect - & he never did it unless she "asked".
Avatar 1:41pm northguineahills:

Sneaking in to say hallo!

Are not greenbacks technically cloth?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Charlie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Charlie:

Hi NGH -- Ray thinks they're paper, that's good enough for me :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Matt from Springfield:

Go Brian Dewan! I'm guessing it's a paper theme this week?

Hi charlie and every one of yinze! Just catching the end of this episode, but wanted to check the "new" chat system firsthand!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Charlie:

(Btw, is that *my* copy of "Reds" you got from Netflix? ;) I had that literally for months recently, occupying one of my 2 DVD slots, all the while paying to have 2 out at once. I wanted to watch it, but was never in the "mood" to watch THAT, y'know? :)

Happy Anniversary, Charlie! Sorry I'm a bit late - I needed my ears when you broadcast live. Nice segue btw!

Feel free to borrow my ears; they're very large :)
