Good morning Bill, good to see you back again (or is it just déjà vu?).

And good morning all.

A demented way to start the weekend! Hi Bill, all!
Avatar 3:20am
Bill Mac:

Hi Emile, I'm railing against all of the 70's music I've been listening to.
Avatar 3:25am
Jay/London:

Bill Why have you been listing to 70s music, was it doc's orders ?
Avatar 3:29am
Bill Mac:

I think the doc's taste in music probably doesn't stray too far from Billy Joel...
Avatar 3:33am
Jay/London:

oh dear bill .. no wonder you are playing this then
Avatar 3:35am
Bill Mac:

It's a bit more aggro than the last show was.

  4:44am
Larry In Portland:

Ha! First night it's not raining in Portland in while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48am
Stanley:

@ jay - UB40 always reminds me of the Thatcher years

A bummer for most but I had a ball
Avatar 4:48am
Bill Mac:

I knew that, they always mentioned that in articles about them. Not that this is a bad representation but I used to hear some pretty horrid covers of American artists. There was a Juice Newton cover that springs immediately to mind... really bad..
Avatar 4:49am
Jay/London:

yes Stanley grim years .. indeed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50am
Stanley:

Hope that doesn't sound like I was a Thatcher-ite. Just that the time provided so much to rebel against. Spent a lot of the time abroad, on the road.
Avatar 4:51am
Jay/London:

best place to be at that time Stanley, me thinks
Avatar 4:54am
Bill Mac:

... yeah and the Reagan side of things over here. Not very bad years personally in retrospect.
Avatar 4:54am
Jay/London:

this song reminds me of the Graceland album
Avatar 4:56am
Bill Mac:

Yes but with testicles. I just saw a nice special on the making of Graceland about a month ago.
Avatar 4:58am
Jay/London:

what was it called I would like to see it bill
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59am
Stanley:

I have mixed feelings about the Graceland album. Did bring South African music to world attention, though.

i agree Stanley good and bad all at the same time

i was a young lad when juice's "angel in the morning" came out and i have a huge soft spot for it. cuz it was always on and weird and moody. and no shout out to portland? great show indeed.

Avatar 5:07am
Larry In Portland:

Pretty sane, just a tad in the cups.
Avatar 5:08am
Bill Mac:

There you go Lar! I name checked you like 2 hours ago didn't I? Before calling you crazy I'm gonna recheck the JN tune...
Avatar 5:09am
Larry In Portland:

I was at a bar 2 hours ago missing Perry! Angel In The Morning is dramatically heartbreaking. Musta been another Lar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09am
Stanley:

@ Larry - if and when I do my Great American Road Trip, I'm definitely going to make a visit, what with its cool reputation.
Avatar 5:10am

The Butts and Juice.... yeah, you're a bit off....
Avatar 5:11am
Bill Mac:

Any of you coming out East better let me know.
Avatar 5:11am
Larry In Portland:

@ Stanley = I wish that show about us was funny. But it's pretty spot on it's analysis of this weird utopia we're trying to forge.
Avatar 5:12am
Larry In Portland:

17 years in Portland but I was forged in the fires of NJ tho, that's where I was Juiced And Holed. Yuck, I just grossed myself out.
Avatar 5:13am

You two are in rare form this evening. NJ? Whereabout?

Ocean Township, Asbury Park zipcode. You prob. got 10 years on me, so yeah I'd have not enjoyed Juice either
Avatar 5:24am
Bill Mac:

I know it pretty well. I work in Freehold which is about 15 miles west of there.
  5:24am
tahomajohn:

Hi Bill... I heard her first at about 11 years old... maybe 1972. i was struck dumb in the head. She is superduper. btw she was in tacoma yesterday, not today, so nevermind;)
Avatar 5:27am
Larry In Portland:

I'm a Christian Bros. Academy alum. Lincroft. Real close to Freehold. Funny how far Jersey City seemed as a kid. 45 min. is nothing on the west coast but seemed like a different planet on the East.
Avatar 5:30am
Bill Mac:

No worries John, still a pretty nice coincidence. You didn't go see her?
Avatar 5:32am
Bill Mac:

@Larry I'm close enough to hear people tell stories about Springsteen paying a visit to the local ice cream establishment. Problem is that I work in Freehold but I live 5 miles outside of Philly. I'm far away from everything!
Avatar 5:35am
Larry In Portland:

Damn, quite a commute to WFMU. Yeah my friends' dads went to school with The Boss. Called him a hippy dylan freak. Saw boss in Portland in Nov. and Canadian guy bought me a few ($10) beers after learning of my geographical upbringing. Glad it's worth something!
Avatar 5:37am
Jay/London:

wish i could still jump about like springsteen and he's older then me !!!
Avatar 5:39am
Larry In Portland:

@Jay no shit! I'm 24 years younger and my knees are creaky!
Avatar 5:40am
Jay/London:

what the hell is he on Larry i want some of it
Avatar 5:41am
Larry In Portland:

That was great Roberta Flack, was pretty amazed. Killing me softly makes me want to do just that, but harder.
Avatar 5:42am
Larry In Portland:

Jay, I think he's on "clean living" and I want none of it!
  5:43am
tahomajohn:

missed her but i dont understand why... hopefully i learned something... maybe your playing her sent me up a level.. i surely enjoyed:)
Avatar 5:44am

Let that be a lesson to you all! Tell people you're from Asbury Park/Freehold and get free libations!
Avatar 5:45am
Jay/London:

wilko Johnson has cancer here a link to a interview he did over here www.bbc.co.uk...
Avatar 5:48am
Larry In Portland:

Jay, to this day I've never heard Dr. Feelgood despite reading about them in a dozen punk/clash books as precursors. I shall remedy.
Avatar 5:48am
Bill Mac:

Thanks Jay, I heard that myself. I didn't know much about the pre punk pub rock scene but was familiar with a few of the players.
Avatar 5:53am
Larry In Portland:

Bill, this was a great set. Just came back from a semi-seedy bar beneath an old school pool hall/ OTB joint called the Jack London where I heard some commercial fishermen poets tell stories. This soundtrack segued perfectly.
Avatar 5:53am
Jay/London:

they all used to play in a local pub near me .. before they got well known.. great nights we had !
Avatar 5:54am
Jay/London:

thanks Bill, see you next week ?
Avatar 5:55am
Larry In Portland:

Jay, living near a pub where a genre called "pub rock" emerged sounds pretty ideal. awesome!
Avatar 5:56am
Bill Mac:

Nice when you can line up hours of events to a common thread. A higher power perhaps?
Avatar 5:56am
Larry In Portland:

Proud to have been introduced to "Pink Moon" by a punk rock Sebadoh cover as opposed to a VW commercial!
Avatar 5:57am

Hoping to see you guys next week too!!!!
