Fleet Foxes is the type of music that people who get spoofed on Portlandia like.

I don't know. What's wrong with Endless Boogie?

I think most people on here think that Endless Boogie is a'OK.
Avatar 4:55pm

and that's a bad thing? I remember friends arguing that Stereolab's" Transient Random Noise Bursts W/ Random Announcements" was nothing more then Neu!'s "Hallogallo" expanded to a whole album.

Cecile-NO on the Fleetfoxes, YES CLICKYSTARS for E.Boogie. My 68 yr old mom told me yesterday that she heard a great band on NPR called Vampire Weekend btw... she expected me to chide her but I said-go checkem out! With a straight face.

Yes, way back, I was referring to Endless Boogie the band, not the album. Really enjoyed the Love Cry Want. I wish fusion jazz was still a thing. I mean, it probably is, but you don't hear much of it.
Avatar 5:23pm
northguineahills:

@the Owl: I agree on all accounts about your statement on fusion jazz. One notable exception is Rob Mazurek's projects border on fusion jazz and are listenable (Chicago/Sao Pablo Underground etc)
Avatar 5:24pm

Vampire Weekend is awful. Not like Foreigner at all. Bad carbon copy of Neil What's-His-Face's "Graceland" but more smug. I say put them and their stupid beards into a fission chamber.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm
tim from champaign:

Sun Ra has a Fission Jazz song called "Nuclear War".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm
tim from champaign:

I like to refer to Fusion Jazz as Jazz Brunch jazz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm
Ike:

Fleet Foxes is not anywhere near as bad as VW and some of their CSN rip-off harmonies are quite well-made if you like that sort of thing. Very mild and overly harmless, but not too smug.

Morrison was not somebody you woulda generally wanted to spend quality time w/ (Fabio point)
- but he was our Shaman
- if you define that as somebody who guided you thru things & places & parts of yourself that other people like Parents & parts of Society would not & did not. (Clay's position.)

I'm siding more with Fabio on this one -- Never had an opinion on the Doors one way or the other. My ambivalence runs deep. I don't diss 'em, but I don't play 'em either.

Morrison: Easily among the best Writers, best Singers, *&* Best Performers - & that's *before* considering the Doors as Band...
  6:01pm
the Owl:

Yeah, I think Jim Morrison is an insufferable prick, but it's sort of weird to me how much people hate the Doors. They have some decent songs, like Peace Frog, the song with the most inverse ratio ever of title to rockingness.
