Avatar 11:49am Carmichael:

Heya, Charlie. Busier than a 1-legged man in a butt kicking contest, but I'll be listening in.
  11:51am Alf from Upstate:

Busy doing butt-kicking?
Avatar 11:58am Parq:

Did someone say park?
Avatar 11:58am ndbob:

morning Charlie Carmichael, Alf everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Charlie:

Park, eh? Parquet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Uncle Michael:

The rain and other things are here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm pacific standard simon:

It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood.
Avatar 12:06pm Parq:

Deranged, the Parq and other things?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Charlie:

We had the rain last night. Today the parkq.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm pacific standard simon:

Tomorrow the viaduct.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Uncle Michael:

First we take Manhattan.
Avatar 12:09pm other eddie:

PARKOUR! [ow]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Doug Schulkind:

Sundays in the gorge with Parq?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm davex:

Hello everyone - nice picture!
Avatar 12:11pm still b/p:

It's the Parq Side of the Noon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Uncle Michael:

Park Yakarkus
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm pacific standard simon:

Why a duck? I dunno, guess the goose was gorged.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm davex:

Ah yes, the rain is here too - all week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Uncle Michael:

Try the veal!
Avatar 12:13pm Parq:

Uncle M, then the Bronx and Staten Island too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm davex:

Is it vealy good?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Charlie:

oh, and, welcome all, individually and collectively!
Avatar 12:14pm Parq:

Dave beat me to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm pacific standard simon:

But not on Monday; they serve the re-veal.
Avatar 12:15pm still b/p:

I heard the Egyptians built the pyramids without the use of the veal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm davex:

Thanks, Charlie - sounds great!
Avatar 12:16pm ndbob:

nice version here
Avatar 12:17pm duke:

Sittin' in the park, doin' nothin'
Avatar 12:19pm duke:

Nice version of Sitting in the Park, but hard to top Billy Stewart
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm pacific standard simon:

We goin' to the bench this early in the game, coach?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Doug Schulkind:

@duke
Billy Stewart = agreed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Brian in UK:

When suddenly nothing happened.

@Doug Que Seurat, Seurat.
Avatar 12:23pm Pseu Braun:

I'm benched myself for a bit, so if y'all could scoot over...
Avatar 12:25pm still b/p:

The photo reminds us that Bencho was the least known of the Parx Brothers. However, there was one other brother, MacArtho Parx, who melted when he was young.
Avatar 12:25pm duke:

I think I have a splinter in my butt from this bench
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Brian in UK:

Zippo was my favourite, never lighten up though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Brian in UK:

Who's the one on the right next to Harpo?
Avatar 12:28pm duke:

Brother Franco got mixed up in Spanish politics
Avatar 12:28pm Parq:

¿Still b/p, qué can eat it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Charlie:

That's Zeppo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Charlie:

Plenty of benches to go around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Brian in UK:

That's a Hackenabush.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm pacific standard simon:

I liked Yakko, but he defected to the competition.
  12:29pm jan:

Hi Charlie- Hot and a bit humid here in NYC, still cool inside- helped by 2 hours of cool music from your stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Brian in UK:

Not Charlie the other right
Avatar 12:31pm northguineahills:

Never got around to this Bob Ashley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Brian in UK:

No it's Groucho, they all look the same when seated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Charlie:

it's amazing, ngh -- disc 2 is songs, disc 1 long spoken-sung monologues, brilliant writing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Uncle Michael:

Jorma can really fucking play.
Avatar 12:35pm Parq:

That opera piece was, as the label correctly notes, lovely. And that Jorma just never sounds right without nacho cheese chips ground into the carpet.
Avatar 12:36pm duke:

My fav Sonic Youth cut
Avatar 12:37pm northguineahills:

I was just playing this Monday afternoon for the Memorial day pre-BBQ party.
  12:38pm jan:

Yeah- That Jefferson Airplane album is one that I retained from back in the day when I purchased it at age 15 or so. It's a great sound. What about - taxing my memory, 3/5th of a mile in 10 seconds? Is that the cut?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Uncle Michael:

Back shortly...I am going somewhere....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Charlie:

this is a good memorial song!
hi jan. yah, that's right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm listener james from westwood:

don't do nothing charlie wouldn't be busy doing, UM!
Avatar 12:42pm Parq:

Pirate Jenny -- so many great performances and so many intriguing translations. This particular one was also recorded ca. 1978 by Steeleye Span.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm pacific standard simon:

Judy Collins is not someone I would think of in association with this number.
  12:46pm gary mitchell:

you are freeformin' brother
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm listener james from westwood:

i'd only ever heard nina simone's. this one was quite nice and more savage than you usually imagine collins being.
Avatar 12:47pm ndbob:

@Simon - that was actually the first version of Pirate Jenny I heard - from Judy's best LP
Avatar 12:47pm ndbob:

Heya Gary!
Avatar 12:48pm duke:

this is a hella good set
Avatar 12:49pm still b/p:

There ain't a can of Scruff 'n Squalor Spray big enough to transform Judy to Jenny.
Avatar 12:53pm ndbob:

@Charlie agreed re James M Cain
Avatar 1:00pm Parq:

"Street in the City" gets favorite-starred, yes indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Dominick:

Pray for their knickers to fall
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Charlie:

welcome, Gary
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Brian in UK:

My baby gives it up totally free.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm pacific standard simon:

Reading Pete's autobio right now. He says Ronnie Lane was the first person who didn't laugh at him for all that Meher Baba nonsense.
Avatar 1:03pm Carmichael:

This is a great album. My Baby Gives It Away is my fave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Charlie:

string arrangement by film composer Edwin Astley
Avatar 1:05pm Carmichael:

The song Baba O'Riley was named after Meha and Terry Riley. Got that from the bio Simon's reading.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Brian in UK:

@Carmichael which one of those two is you?
Avatar 1:11pm Carmichael:

I'm more Professor Irwin Corey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Charlie:

simon, carm -- how ya like that pete autobio?
Avatar 1:13pm Carmichael:

I loved it, Charlie. And I'm not really a big Who fan. Kind of painful though; I'm not sure I would reveal so much about myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Brian in UK:

That's Pete, heart, kidneys, liver, spleen & stomach all on his sleeve.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm pacific standard simon:

Interesting, so far... but not really compelling. Yes, Pete, you've had some heartaches and hang-ups in your life... but SO HAVE WE ALL. I'd really appreciate a little more about the music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm listener james from westwood:

that's gonna present a helluva challenge for his dry cleaners
Avatar 1:18pm Michael:

hey now Charlie and hello everyone. Late to the park party sadly.
Avatar 1:19pm Carmichael:

No alcohol allowed in public parks, btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm davex:

Ah, good to be reminded. People drink everywhere in parks here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm pacific standard simon:

BTW, Charlie, I'm afraid we'll have to stop meeting like this. My new job starts Monday, 7AM - 3PM, in a busy kitchen. No more park benches.
Avatar 1:24pm nah:

Thanks for the My Favorite track - love that one!
  1:27pm Listening Out There:

...Vicki 'n Ergo sound good...like the fly buzz...
  1:28pm Listening Out There:

People Like Us = PLU...Flies Like Us = FLU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm davex:

Simon: Congrats on the new job - you were hoping for that, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm pacific standard simon:

Yes, indeed, dave -- especially the easy commute and health insurance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Charlie:

Hi Michael.
Well, congrats on the job, Simon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm davex:

Sounds good - hope it starts off well...
Avatar 1:34pm Carmichael:

Hope you don't work with Gordon Ramsey, Simon. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm pacific standard simon:

All my GTDR favorites are taking the hit -- ARCHIVES, though.
@Carmichael - No little Hitlers in my neighborhood.
Avatar 1:37pm Michael:

I wonder if any of the gents in the pic can sing like Chevalier?
Avatar 1:38pm Carmichael:

Charlie, are you saving up a Groucho song for the grand finale?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm pacific standard simon:

Of course they can -- they all ARE Chevalier!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm davex:

If the nightingales could sing like them...
Avatar 1:42pm ndbob:

@simon Congrats!
Avatar 1:44pm northguineahills:

Was Not Was should have done more collaborations, makes for nice artists titles.
  1:45pm Listening Out There:

Years back, I heard a studio-only type of Mel Torme recording. In it, he insults everyone around him, over whatever track he's really trying to record. Ever since, when I hear him, I think of Mel and those insults. Makes the listening more bearable. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Doug Schulkind:

Mel Tormé has always been my Chicken McNuggets of music. That is, I was the first person never to have Chicken McNuggets and I always assumed I would be the first deejay never to spin Mel Tormé. But your fancy little display, Charlie, has shot that all to hell. (I'm still never having Chicken McNuggets, however.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Charlie:

Don't eat the nuggets -- have a tuna MelT instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm listener james from westwood:

the velvet fog != pink slime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm pacific standard simon:

I like Mel well enough, but there's nothing he could sing that I wouldn't prefer sung by Chet Baker.
Avatar 1:55pm Michael:

I saw Mel at the Newport Jazz Fest in Saratoga in the early 80's and he was swingin'. Man.
Avatar 1:55pm ndbob:

nice AK singers song here
Avatar 1:56pm Parq:

<very big grin>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm listener james from westwood:

that's no marx brother singing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm pacific standard simon:

Speak of the devil...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Dominick:

merci

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Charlie:

Thanks for listening, gang -- see y'all soon. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm davex:

Thank you, Charlie!
Avatar 1:59pm ndbob:

Avatar 1:59pm nah:

Thanks Charlie, that was nice!
Avatar 1:59pm Parq:

Another brilliant show. Charlie, How do you do it? No matter; thank the stars -- and Doug -- that you continue to do it.
