Those opening sounds were quite reminiscent of the way it sounded as we left Yankee Stadium today, after seeing the unthinkable: Mariano blew a save. After a tremendous performance by Kuroda and one inning of wonder by Robertson. Oh, the humanity! Gary Burton, though, is soothing after so tough an afternoon.

I don't know much about the Carps' inner history, having spent much of my youth joining my peers in scorning them. I just remember seeing one of those late-night commercials for a compilation of that stuff, illustrated with a series of videos for their hits. The thing is, the videos were in chronological order, and the viewer literally watched the poor kid dying, getting more gaunt and wizened with each on until finally, in the vid for that one with Sneaky Pete on steel-petal, she looked outright skeletal. Chilling.

@Parq: you might notice that there is not much written about Karen & Richard as kids. Richard via tech and music (keyboards, arranging), and Karen via music (drums, singing) managed to escape what must have been horrible in other ways. Even fame could not tame their various inner demons. What happened to Karen is tragic. Some of it was her inability to come to terms with it or to find proper help. Richard suffered, out of the limelight (no TMZ back then) and they were so beloved as a whitebread and vanilla act that they were left alone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
