Good thing you are playing Liar, Liar because that girl was lying about the incubators - famous psyop that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm fred:

@RevRab: it was on Terre's 2006 premium. It's not available anymore, but if you ask nicely maybe you could get it if you give to the fall fundraiser. Not to mention you'd get 21 other great tracks for something you would have done anyway
  4:05pm arne:

wonderful show. kudos!
  4:07pm ScottC:

not to get too serious - I do sense a theme. Russia has SAT evidence that shows the Sarin came from the rebels - not the GOV so no attack anytime soon. That's why the Brits pulled out.

Thanks Cherry Blossom, am old enough to remember these lies and propaganda. Just as we are witnessing today.

UK Subs - "Mouth On A Stick" seems right at this stage.... I get the image of puppets mouthing the words of their masters.
Avatar 4:16pm BadGuyZero:

Sue P. played that Verma track on Tuesday. I ordered it ASAP. I couldn't believe it was a 7-inch as it has the feel of a track that would fill the entire side of an LP. As Sue so succinctly put it "33rpm. Big hole."

  4:18pm arne:

Exactly, get an opinion. Dude.
  4:19pm Peter in Gpt:

Thanks, Terri, for playing the baby-incubator testimony from Congress. People need to throw off their collective amnesia, and recollect how often we get played by state propaganda. The warhawks love to cite US moral position, but in truth, we are pretty tattered on that score. Including chemical weapons--remember Saddam in 1982 and 1987? Gassed them Iranians good, for us.
  4:19pm ScottC:

Here is the plan - Isolate Russia by breaking up their Allie/Client states. Secure oil fields and then trade drilling contracts for propping up our monetary system (China/Western Europe). And then go into Africa... Opps now the NSA is listening.
  4:25pm arne:

@peter in gpt: oh man, true, well made point. you made me laugh out loud. it's all so bizzare.
  4:28pm Peter in Gpt:

Scott, resource extraction has always been the name of the game. And de-stabilization is how we play it. Shi'ites useful? great, until they aren't. Then chuck them over and play the other side, break apart the systems that might compete with us for resources. Demobilize Europe, move the iron mountain to central asia, where the real party will be. Once we put down airstrips and bowling alleys, we are staying put for a generation. Ask the English or the Italians. Or the Kyrgyz. Our monetary system will be too big to fail, and hegemonic consolidation will be guaranteed for another century.
Avatar 4:32pm BadGuyZero:

Run for cover!
  4:34pm arne:

ever been to kyrgyzstan, peter? you should go. nice air.
  4:35pm Peter in Gpt:

Probably can't get Terre's show there, unless you work for the Man and have the secret downlink codes.
  4:40pm Peter in Gpt:

I never been to Spain, neither.
But I kinda like the Beatles.
  4:42pm arne:

that's the spirit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm fred:

Kyrgyzstan looks beautiful, and has great music to boot. I've never been there though: too far, which translate to too expensive
  4:49pm ScottC:

@Peter in GPT: The big difference now is that International Capitol has formed some very unique and occult connections and quid pro quo systems. For instance, one of the big benefactors of the Afghan war is China and Western Europeans because they have the Rare Earth Mineral contracts (http://www.mining.com/tag/afghanistan/). It's difficult for people to grasp the meaning of these relationships "wait- we are in Afghanistan so I can get a car loan?" -without finance from China we are FLAT BROKE becaue of our tax policy for the last 30yrs. Hence, endless wars. Who said colonialism was dead...
  4:52pm arne:

kyrgystan is a little country that desperately tries to be a quasi democracy in about the most hostile environment you can imagine. but never mind. terre's show is what counts tonight. and it's great!
  4:54pm ScottC:

really what it amounts to is Capitol vs Everybody Else - it's no longer East vs West in the race for resource control.
Avatar 🍒 Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The story of the climbers' experience in Kyrgystan:
www.outsideonline.com...
  5:12pm Peter in Gpt:

Agreed. Bretton Woods 1944 is more or less the ruling order. With a few technological wrinkles not foreseen then--capital is fluid, and post-ideological. The war economy is part of the flow, like the tides, and like the national debt, ebbing and flooding. I made it to eastern Turkey once! cool music there, too. But that Secret Museum of Mankind series has some kickass stuff from Kyrgyzstan and the Uzbeks, 1930's recordings. See Yazoo Records catalog. Amazing proto-psych, not at all ethnological sounding records. Deep folk music.
  5:14pm exphillyette:

  5:22pm ScottC:

SLEEPERS! Ricky Williams - Original singer for Flipper but he was to much of a fuck-up to stick - gave 'em the name though...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm fred:

@Peter in Gpt: right on about the proto-psych stuff. And you didn't even mention the way the Kyrgyz play. There's some proto-Hendrix stuff there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm fred:

@Michael K: Terre's was my gateway show to WFMU. Despite my being in my 40s and my lifestyle, I've yet to develop a beer belly. Coincidence? I think not!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Don't forget, Peter, that there were a whole lot more people in Eastern Turkey at a time when it was not in US interests to interfere in their elimination. Come to think of it, that's been the case for decades. And yes, wonderful music.

A great show distracting me from the pork chops smoking out back. I just want to meddle...
