Samúel Jon Samúelsson Big Band was tremendous! That's world-class stuff! I liked Hellvar too, and that record shop with the sign with Kiss. But the gig of the year was frickin' SAVAGES.

@stashu it's a 5-day music festival in the city, so there's big venues but also bands play all over town in all kinds of odd places. This year's program had over 200 bands. Mostly Icelandic but they pull in big names from overseas too.

The festival is owned by Icelandair so they have some good offers on plane tix + festival tix, and there's hostels around town. Once you get there it's a bit pricey, half-liter beers run between 5 and 6 euros, but we found a place where you could get a burger and fries and a beer for 10 euros. A morning visit to the city pool (with geothermal tubs 'n stuff) was cheap and super cool way to start the day (and meet festival folks).
