For balance, I just happen to be reading Wim Wenders's original essay/review about his love for 'Nashville'. At least as relevant as billbo bag-on's review! The only Altman films I liked so far were '3 Women' and 'The Player'. I'm determined to give him another shot this year.

I strongly disagree that any AM/FM terrestrial – FCC-monitored -- should have to pay. Why not just put a fee on any radio that is bought in the US? Why not have every citizen pay a fee every time they turn on the radio?
Get ready for FM/AM radio to be filled with talk or custom material. Why not just have WFMU broadcast the free music archive all the time?
Yes, it’s quite sad that radio airplay doesn’t transfer to records sales anymore… if radio sales transferred into a “Frampton Comes Alive,” there wouldn’t be an argument for this… It’d just that those days are over and artists are looking for other areas for income, but I feel it’s the wrong direction.
And this is coming from a drummer who gets paid royalties.

And I think artists should be paid, ideally by some policy-backed structure that siphons profits from the technocrats who are sucking up people's income via cable and internet ...
we're all serfs in the digital age ... same as it ever was.
