Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Gary:

What are you going to do on your birthday, Doug?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of horrtriguing, the flip side of this Nelstone's Hawaiians disc features a tune called "Fatal Flower Garden."
Avatar 6:07pm ndbob:

@Doug yep - which appears on the harry smith anthology
Avatar 6:09pm hyde:

@Doug @ndbob i love that song
  6:10pm Dean:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Doug Schulkind:

Don't tempt me, Dean.
Avatar 6:12pm Carmichael:

That reminds me, Doug. Over the weekend, I showed my dance-aspiring daughters a clip of Cab Calloway and band, with the Nicholas Brothers tapping all over the nightclub. It was a thing of beauty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Doug Schulkind:

Frank Isaac "Sugar Chile" Robinson is 10 years old here. The great Zutty Singleton is on drums!!
Avatar 6:13pm earrie:

Learning how to learn is a valuable thing to learn in school. It's the wish for more wishes come true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Doug Schulkind:

Sweet, Carmichael! You gots to indoctrinates them early!

@earrie
That is the entire point of this broadcast. GOLD STAR!
Avatar 6:20pm ndbob:

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Gary:

Hi Luna! <-------------[GF demanded I write this]
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:23pm listener james from westwood:

As good as hearing kids and birds in the background of field recordings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Doug Schulkind:

I'll send it to you, ndbob.

Luna says "Hey" everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Luna:

"Hi back, GF!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Doug Schulkind:

Can I teach an old davex new tricks?!?
Avatar 6:27pm earrie:

From the comic reading at the podium: "Knowing how it could change the lives of canines everywhere, the dog scientists struggled diligently to understand the Doorknob Principle." (Gary Larson)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Doug Schulkind:

Don't even NEED the art with that one, earrie.
Avatar 6:28pm ndbob:

@Doug Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm davex:

Hey, I learn new things (if not tricks) all the time here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Doug Schulkind:

Rollover, davex. Good! Have a num-num!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm davex:

Hope those are veggie num-nums...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:34pm listener james from westwood:

Broccoli num num!
  6:36pm Dean:

"Octopus" off of School Days' In Our Times? Doesnt' quite fit your template so far, but makes a nod to the image...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Doug Schulkind:

The final set on this evening's program is about school buses. It will scare the shit out of you. Please tighten your safety belts.

@LJFW
Actually, they are broccoli rabe num-nums. This is a high-class jernt.

Avatar 6:38pm Carmichael:

Look both ways when you cross the street, or you may get a hood ornament up your butt? I love that song.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:39pm listener james from westwood:

re: Liar Town: Dammit! We threw out all my grandparents' cussin' bears! We could've been rich!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm davex:

See, I just learned what broccoli rabe is. Case in point.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Gary:

Congratulations, Lincoln!
Avatar 6:46pm ndbob:

Congrats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Doug Schulkind:

This song would seem to be directly contradicting the previous one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Doug Schulkind:

The Stanley Brothers are singing of this event: www.oocities.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm northguineahills:

I forgot to say howdy! Thanks Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Doug Schulkind:

T. Tommy Cutrer was a state senator from Tennessee. Try not to throw up in your mouths...

Hi NGH!
Avatar 6:52pm Carmichael:

I thought this was Lorne Greene at first.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:53pm listener james from westwood:

Instead of a straw man, this song has a straw bus.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:53pm listener james from westwood:

@Carmichael: It does have a Golden Throats vibe to it.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Gary:

Bussing = death?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:54pm listener james from westwood:

Get the hell out of here, Tommy, you had a fuckin' Wallace sticker on that bus.
Avatar 6:54pm Carmichael:

Can you play the clip from Dirty Harry where the bad guy makes all the kids on the bus sing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm northguineahills:

I was in a school bus in the first grade. We got a substitute bus driver and she went the wrong way. So, she turned on a dirt road, and unsuccessfully tried a three-point turn and we flipped over in a ditch. I got a bloody nose and most of the kids were not much worse off. Exciting for me, but my parents freaked out as it took another hour plus for another bus to pick us up, and drive us home.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:56pm listener james from westwood:

Jesus, NGH! And I thought it was bad when one of the NJ Transit bus drivers just wandered the side streets near the Lincoln Tunnel for 45 min trying to get back on the highway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Doug Schulkind:

Is Ed Pinkett African American? I can't tell, but think so. Makes this cover version of T. Tommy Cutrer's School Bus even more creepy.
Avatar 6:57pm ndbob:

excellent show Doug!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Gary:

Ed Pinkett also wrote Plantation Gold
Avatar 6:59pm hyde:

@ngh i think i saw a school bus safety film like that once....

thanks for the show, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Jesse Kaminsky here: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Doug Schulkind:

I will investigate, Gary. Thanks for the 411!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Gary:

Wait, no, that's just a compilation title ...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Gary:

It looks like he wrote the song that both he and T Tommy recorded, though
