listener james from westwood:

Sniglets! The word that is itself a sniglet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
Artie:

Aglet was always my favorite sniglet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am
Amanda:

Wait a second, "Aglet" is a Sniglet? I thought aglet was a real word!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am
Artie:

Sniglets are real words!! (aren't they...?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am
listener james from westwood:

"Aglet" is real. "Premblememblemation," or the practice of peeking in the mailbox to ensure the mail you've just dropped into it has actually gone down, and to which I succumb every time I mail something, is not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am
Amanda:

Rich Hall always made sure I knew: a sniglet by definition is not in the dictionary but SHOULD be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am
Amanda:

I am "aquadextrous," meaning I can use my feet to turn the taps in the bathtub.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am
Artie:

I could swear that Aglet was included in an official book of Sniglets that my roommate owned way back when. But I'm willing to concede the that word is older than Rich Hall himself, and little known - although the item itself is much used.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am
listener james from westwood:

The Ruben Blades cut on the stream right now is putting me in a Tito Puente "Mr. Burns" mood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am
Artie:

I shall amend my favorite in favor the salty, orange Cheetle.
Avatar 12:00pm
Dan B From Upstate:

I thought an aglet was the little plastic bits at the end of shoe laces. Anyway, Rich Hall is still on a British Show called QI, that more people should watch.

I wasn't around in time for sniglets, but my mother reminds me quite freqnetly about the hozone (pardon my spelling, it is a fake work, after all), which is the dimension that socks go to when they disappear in the dryer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
listener james from westwood:

Not Necessarily the News was my comedy bridge between Monty Python in early junior high and The Young Ones in high school proper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
Amanda:

Yep, Dan B, "hozone" is one I used to try to use in conversation with my parents hoping it would catch on. I was a lonely kid.
Avatar 12:10pm
Dan B From Upstate:

Ha ha. That's funny, and I supoose it really does fit the definition of sniglet. It should totally be a word.

Sure is efd. I remember when Tony got the demo back from Toni Basil and the difference from his own demo was mind blowing. His band before Mood Six was called Security Risk. No recorded material to my knowledge.

Thanks for the info, Brian in UK! "Hanging Around" and "Just Like A Dream" are two of my faves from back in the day, and I've spun each a few times on WFMU as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
Amanda:

Sadly, efd and Brian, I just checked and "Hangin' Around" is not on the other side of this particular Toni Basil record. I assumed it was the original but maybe it was different in the UK?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm

I have no plans to do this as well as Amanda is doing this, this Friday.

I did, however, almost use that .gif.

Amanda, I hope you saw me fist-pumping and singing along to that first set. I was busy making slow-cooker chili so I have something to nosh during the Gal Pals tonight.

My mom lived for a time across a courtyard from one of Rick Derringer's alcoholic ex-wives. She had two daughters. The older one was a really good kid and was basically running the house and raising the younger one. When they all left for Hawaii, my mom moved to that apartment. It was a better apartment.
