No such thing as coincidence. Hola to you, @holland oats, @duke, and @listener james. Cookies for all of you.

That recurring bass note. It's horn and base? It sounds thick.

duke:

This track really is nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Jeff Golick:

Hi @aeari -- Brown is the only horn, so just bass I think. Maybe the piano doubles it in some cases, though?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Jeff Golick:

Agreed, duke.
Here's your line-up:
Alto Saxophone – Marion Brown
Bass – Gon Mizuhashi
Drums – Warren Smith
Piano – Dave Burrell
  12:14pm
aeari:

Er. 'bass'. I'm hung on the base bass note.
Hm, piano. Yeah.
It's beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Jeff Golick:

Agreed. I'm wondering if they started the concert with this cut. Pretty ballsy to start out at this pace...

never heard this (as i say so many times in gtdr-land), lovely
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
holland oats:

what's 79118 mean?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Jeff Golick:

Sweet, @holland oats. And you might get a chance to hear it again via another artist in a bit...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm

I like the way you think, oats.

Good afternoon Jeffs and non-Jeffs.
I saw Joe McPhee (with Chris Corsano) a couple of weeks ago. Good stuff, obviously. His look was different this time: he was wearing a hoodie with the hood on and played a white and orange sax part of the time. The hoodie was stage dress, he wasn't wearing it before or after the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Jeff Golick:

Hi fred! While image searching for a playlist photo of McPhee, I came across a recent one of his in a hoodie -- from the Wire, I think. Perhaps a political statement of sorts.
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
fred:

I found a video of that show: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
Jeff Golick:

Ah, thanks, fred. Will check after this show. Got some McPhee/Corsano lined up, as it happens. Not sure if we'll have room for it, though...

Hmmmm, this second November Cotton Flower. I doubt I'd have recognized it if not for the title.

Yeah, it's pretty abstracted.

So glad to hear it, listener james. I daresay November has produced some lovely music.

Evenin' gents. If the other months of this year are anything to go by, two blinks and it will be December. So, some slow blinking music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Jeff Golick:

Good evening, Brian! Keeping it slow and steady today.
