'FMU's weeks long Jack Bruce career retrospective has been educational and a musical treat. Without the on-air staff's individual insights into the Bruce legacy, I might have thought his contribution to music culture revolved around Cream alone. Thx, 'FMU!

- yeah - love(d) Jack. Appreciated.
  9:14am RHenderson:

Multiple Jack Bruce selections- how wonderful! I hope that ' Harmony Row' gets a look. His voice, the defining bass abilities, what a consummately musical individual. Great thus far, Bob.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:18am Sem Chumbo:

Killing me w/ this, beautifully.
  9:21am RHenderson:

Having said as much above re. Jack Bruce, I lost interest after 'How's Tricks.' Am curious about good entries in his later catalog, 'Monkjack' et al.
  9:24am William:

Yeah! Left and Right was my first Roland Kirk LP. Love it!
  9:30am stubbins:

...snooze...I'm awake but I feel like I'm still sleeping...
  9:33am melinda:

Five o'Clock World! Enjoying the David McCallum covers.
Avatar 9:39am Nanker de Tucson:

I remembered Strawbs as underrated in early '70s ; were beyond folksy acoustic phase then
  9:39am Moe:

Jack went home and wrote, Sunshine of you love, after seeing Hendrix play...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:41am Uncle Michael:

Was "Communication" David McCallum's acme?
Avatar 9:41am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & Hendrix loved to play it!
- I read 'HurdyGurdyMan' by Donovan is 'about' Jimi also? - w/ - ? - JeffBeck & Zep persons on it - ??...

dang this Moby Grape track is hot!
  9:49am Aranker:

Love your show Bob, I've been getting up Saturday mornings regularly for a while and just taking notes
  9:52am Jack:

If playing I Feel Free in E the 1st chord is E 7 #9
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am Mike East:

good morning, Bob and all. Flash stream is being a bit difficult. switching to FM now.
Avatar 10:06am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- a couple bumps w/ iTunes - no biggie.
  10:07am Josh Norton:

Pop-up stream was intermittent a few minutes ago; rebooting it solved the problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Mike East:

Yeah, I'm sure its fine now...it kept hiccuping after a couple reboots, so I decided to take advantage of my proximity to the transmitter.
Avatar 10:10am SmokinJ:

Just finished the Kaylan book. Quick read. I had hoped for more..
Avatar 10:11am SmokinJ:

Still adore the Turtles though.... :)>
Avatar 10:12am SmokinJ:

I'd love to hear Volman's side of things...
  10:14am Jack:

Yes #9 of E = G. Same chord as in Purple Haze, also Taxman.
  10:16am Moe:

Kalyan said in an interview he used to smoke weed with Zappa....
Avatar 10:17am SmokinJ:

The book points out one or two examples of that...
  10:17am Moe:

Which is a revelation, since frank professed to be a non druggy....
Avatar 10:20am SmokinJ:

People profess to be a lot of things... Frank lived and died by the cigarette..
Avatar 10:21am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- much of Zappa's stuff - for all it's cynicism - has Psychedelic traits...one could say pot is not in a class w/ acid or coke &tc. - still !...
  10:22am Moe:

He was a great guitar player... One of the best
Avatar 10:24am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- ciggies & espresso...he died of prostate cancer - not that I'm qualified to get all Medical...Guitar & so many things - truly one of a kind; his SocioPolitical voice alone - sorely missed.
  10:25am Moe:

An I loved the turtles' early folk/rock period... It ain't me babe...
  10:26am William:

The Mamas and Papas got into the skate craze? I did not know that.
Avatar 10:28am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- rare Sat. off ; this show is killin' !
  10:28am SeanG:

the WOLF
  10:31am Moe:

In that scene, LA mid sixties, from which frank and the mothers emerged, many people were "experimenting" with LSD... Judging by his first album, I feel certain Frank shook hands with acid at least once...
Avatar 10:39am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- hell - people on those scenes used to drop it on everybody (w/out consent) w/ impunity - a horrendous practice...I'd *like* to think Zappa 'got there' purely by Intellect & just being aware of all that was going on...
  10:56am Moe:

Just a theory... Frank knew where the money was and grew his hair to get better gigs...
Avatar 11:00am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Zappa was on SteveAllen playing the bicycle as a kid already for sure...he wasn't closed off, & he wanted to communicate to an actual audience, is another way of putting it - preferred the Rawk audience's lack of pretension, &tc.
