If I have one nemesis... it's Turntable 3, a cursed position no matter which model sits in it's place. Just you wait, TT3, your day is a-comin'!

That was enough umlauts to keep me going all week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm

I have really been liking what I hear of this umlaut band.

ä is pronounced like 'a' in 'bat'.

Turntable 3 is like that storefront in the neighborhood that constantly has new businesses opening up and none of them succeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Guido from Cologne:

Just try a TT4 and threat TT3 with neglection.
TT3 will consider better discipline.

Hey Liz! It’s a sunny day after a rainy day, so everyone feels like… Bleagh… So I would just shake that off and maybe look forward to some sun… That is my pseudo-hippie advice of the moment.
  12:41pm
Janne:

Liz, that was a valiant attempt at Finnish. it was close enough. @Polyus: yep. Finnish 'y' is actually a phoneme that doesn't exist in English...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm
Liz Berg:

Please send my apologies to your fellow countrymen and women, Janne!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
efd:

@Janne, Am I correct in recalling that in Finnish every letter is pronounced - there aren't letter combinations that blend to form a new sound, like "ough" or "tion" in English?
  12:50pm
Janne:

@efd, that is pretty much the case. written Finnish is very phonetic, so easy to pronounce, like Italian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Nasty Les:

Not convinced by this Dntel version of 'Jennifer' I'm afraid. Seems to have just runined a classic by piling multiple annoying sounds on top of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Nasty Les:

(rest of the show has been great though)

kat330:

Continuing on my comment to Jeff G. last Wed. morning on his playlist: Could WFMU pledge to air more female artists in 2015 (and beyond)? Starting w/ the remaining female DJs, and esp. when playing more melodic / less head-bangy sounds? Thanks! Would be so good and so right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
blee:

SUNSHINE! I love this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
blee:

@kat330, this is free form radio. Let the DJs be free to play what they feel like. Would head bangy female bands be OK, or do they HAVE TO BE melodic? Can gender bending beings be played as well, or do they have to fall in the female category?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
nickybones:

Agreed with @blee. But, I can appreciate @kat330's idea. Having said that, this station (particularly Faye and Keili) have introduced to me to an incredible amount of fantastic female artists.

Avatar 8:11am
kat330:

@blee: [Philo just informed me of your reply] Headbanging women artists are far fewer and far between was my only point, but clearly not the case when it comes to more "melodic" (the term used by Liz) creations.

By any other name, the serious lack of female artists aired / streamed on WFMU is still sexism, but especially in the name of an honest "free form"at. And in fact there's probably a very fair population ratio of "gender bending" artists aired on these waves; but when 51% of the total population enjoys maybe only a 5%-10% representation here, the messenger is not the one to be shooting, blee.
