Great theme guys!
Avatar 8:13pm bobdoesthings:

I once was told that part of the reason people did not smile was because it just hadn't been considered and/or/also I think people early on in photography's history thought portraits were suppose to be that way, it makes sense when you think of what painted portraits looked like. Makes sense to me.. if a camera is a foreign concept and someone points on at you.. a blank stare makes sense.
Avatar 8:14pm bobdoesthings:

Hah I said "makes sense" a lot.
  8:24pm V Priceless:

Howdy all!
Avatar 8:30pm Claw!:

Hey, V!
So didja end up going to the show last night??
  8:30pm JakeGould:

@bobdoesthings: It also doesn’t hurt that exposure times for film back in the day were longer than nowadays. So you had to sit still and not move or else things get blurred. And if they were blurred? Well then that thar is one of them ghost photos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Webhamster Henry:

The Fisk Jubilee Singers are the subject of my Sister-in- law's PHD thesis.
  8:32pm V Priceless:

@ Claw! Couldn't get in to the city last night for anything - thwarted by ice and snow and assorted freezing crapola! So goes winter in our neck o the woods, I guess!
Avatar 8:33pm Claw!:

Oh, noes! Sorry to hear that. :(
  8:33pm V Priceless:

A buddy of mine who took my tix said it was great. Mostly older thrash stuff...
Avatar 8:33pm bobdoesthings:

@jake - ahhh yeah very true, that's probably a better explanation.. but that was only a problem for large view cameras (the ones with the black sheets and large plate negatives) - when Kodak Eastman made mass-manufactured 35mm cameras and printing services .. that's probably when people started having fun with the medium.. but I don't know.. just rambling
  8:34pm vavavivi:

Pretty please have a Valentine's themed show next week!
Avatar 8:35pm Claw!:

Yeah, it was great! I'm really glad I got to go. It was my first time seein em.
  8:37pm V Priceless:

Cool to know the new bass player is slammin' though! Catch 'em next time. Hopefully they'll tour here in support of the next full-length.
  8:38pm V Priceless:

Thanks again for heads-up on start time!
  8:41pm JakeGould:

@bobdoesthings: FWIW, you know that saying, “Do you want to come up to my place and see my etchings?” Well etchings aren’t photographs, but they were a popular, mass form of naked lady pictures back in the day.
Avatar 8:41pm Claw!:

Yeah, Man, don't mention it! :)

I'm gonna skidaddle of the board here - gonna get some grub together and watch "The Thing" - Devon's John Carpenter show got me in the mood to watch it again. I'll talk to you again soon. Have a good night!
Avatar 8:42pm bobdoesthings:

Is this the same tune Dr Gameshow starts with? (mondays at 7pm)
Avatar 8:44pm bobdoesthings:

@jake - actually have heard that before
  8:50pm V Priceless:

Cool! 'The Thing' is the perfect cold-weather horror flick - Have fun, Claw! See ya!
  8:55pm JakeGould:

“The Thing” is a great film for cold weather. I mean when you go to throw out the garbage with a flare in one hand, a gun and garbage bag in another and a dog comes up to you… You will feel just like you are caught in the Arctic with a shape-shifting alien beast.
  8:59pm V Priceless:

@ Jake: right on! I remember seeing the Carpentar re-make when it came out, and it was winter, and the theatre had the AC cranking! Clever, huh? I can still feel the cold of that flick!
Avatar 8:59pm bobdoesthings:

thanks guys!
  9:00pm V Priceless:

Cool show gents!
  9:00pm JakeGould:

Gotta go hrow out the garbage with a flare in one hand, a gun and garbage bag in another… Will let you know if a dog shows up.
Avatar 9:02pm gongoleer:

Hi Irene. How quickly a week passes. Another round of fine tunes. I'll be here. What's cookin?
