Hey LJFW - nice to see you! I remember those antenna days well - walking around the room trying to find some magic spot to douse FMU out of the air!

I want to pledge, but direct the pledge to Doug's show, because I might end up missing them this week. Website only displays broadcast shows, no streams. Wuddup widdat?

Hey Dean! Hey Doca!
Not sure what's up with the stream placement - great point!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm

Naw, the drummer streams are listed in the drop down over to the right, under Other DJs or whatever.

Thanks for that clarification, Pacific Standard Simon.

The name "Dawn of Midi" has a whiff of Mallarme about it. That John Butcher title, "Bell Trove Spools," makes me wish he would do an album with Cocteau Twins.

Just got a bill for $1800 for my wife's surgery (even w/ insurance). Thankfully, we found out my wife is cancer-free last week. Now, we have her immigration interview tomorrow, and a promising face-to-face interview next week. Can't wait until I survive this month.
Avatar 12:37pm
Jeff J:

"Whiff of Malarme" just happens to be the title of their new album, Dean! And I'm swooning at the thought of a Butcher Cocteau Twins cover album. Though I suspect that's not his reaction.

Outstanding to hear she's cancer free, NGH. Wish her my best for recovery and the interviews to come!

I want to rec what I think is a relatively unrecognized album, Tony Malaby & Joey Sellers' "Cosas" on Nine Winds: http://www.dramonline.org/albums/tony-malaby-joey-sellars-quartet-cosas I played it last night after it sat for years in my collection. Solid top to bottom, a superb ensemble. I worked with Sellers' young brother, Matt, back in the '90s. Matt would talk about the "weird" music his brother played. Shockingly, Matt committed suicide in early 1999. I still think about him.

$20 pledge and you can win the dulcet tones of Borbetomagus! Their "A Go Go" CD is up for grabs. One of their best releases in a heavy discography.
  1:49pm
Dean:

Gleeson (note sp.) played on the Kantner/Slick "Sunfighter" album: http://www.endlessgroove.com/issue1/gleeson.htm

My fave Borbetomagus personal story: Visiting Cambridge, MA, two or three years ago I walked off the T and toward Weirdo Records, which I'd never seen before. I had been looking for the Borbetomagus/Hijokaidan set on Victo from 2006 for some time. A block from the store I "smelled" the disk. I knew I'd find it there. Weirdo's inventory is slim, selective, weird. There it was, waiting for me.
