Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from March 31, 2015 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

I'm not going to look up this Stratacasters song on Discogs yet...first I'm going to try to guess the year. When did rocknroll have permission to be this noisy? My guess = 1963. Prediction: My guess will be very very wrong.

That Monty Hall Cambodian Rocks Show is AMAZING - will it be recorded for those of us way too far away to attend? Kudos to the organizers of that show!!

Commenters – can you help? I was working at a college radio station circa 1993-1994 and a CD single came in, and I can’t remember the band name. It was your basic boilerplate college alt-rock band a la Sebadoh, except that one track on the disc was EXTREMELY distorted, just a wall of chaos, like the band had been recorded in a small room with one mike that had been overdriven 1000%. Lyrics and melody were completely smeared out. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Greg from Bloomfield:

The way my calendar looks right now I should just set a tent up outside Monty Hall...

that Fall show sounds fantastic! Marc Riley's show with Mark Radcliffe on Radio 1 was pretty much the first radio show i ever compulsively listened to, back in the '90s.

@ironybread: Yo La Tengo's "Sugarcube"? It's distorted, but not what I'd call EXTREMELY so, and I can make out the lyrics. But 1993.
