Happy Thursday@noon! Hiya Charlie and everybody else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Charlie:

Hi Bob, Michael! Happy Thursday to you both.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm doctorjazz:

Hey all, nice start to the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Charlie:

Let us not assume that this song will completely rule out sincerity later in the program...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm listener james from westwood:

How do, Charlie and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Parq:

Ray Stevens and Jim Stafford trod previously explored ground, I note.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Charlie:

Hay, Doc Jazz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Charlie:

James, Parq, welcome.
  12:05pm Listening Out There:

Avatar 12:06pm Carmichael:

Good mornin' Chaz and busy people. Sadly, I

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Charlie:

Big BDN welcome to Doug and Carmichael!
Avatar 12:11pm thatpatsmith:

hey all
Avatar 12:12pm thatpatsmith:

folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Charlie:

Hi thatpat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Charlie:

Local band here, based in Keene NH. They're great live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm doctorjazz:

another band I don't know (not that that's so rare, but I try...), like this Mini Monster, time to check Amazon again.
Avatar 12:18pm βrian:

Slavery is a four syllable word, apparently, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm doctorjazz:

Kate/Anna/Joan, lots of feminine attitude
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Charlie:

DrJ -- look for them on Bandcamp: jacobcmckelvie.bandcamp.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Webhamster Henry:

I Shall Be Re-Released.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Webhamster Henry:

Anything from the Fast Folk people today? I used to go to their shows and had a lot of their LPs, now carried by the Smithsonian/Folkways.
  12:24pm jan:

enjoying the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Doug Schulkind:

It always puzzled me why so many people used to stand up and yell FREBERG at Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Charlie:

Hi Jan!
Henry -- good idea; I'll see if I have any handy.
Haha Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Doug Schulkind:

I've got to dash off to work. Happy folking, Cholly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Charlie:

Thanks to WFMU's Scott Williams for loaning me that 69 Folk Best album many years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Webhamster Henry:

Thanks Charlie! Excellent show so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Artie Haywire:

Stan knows why ;|
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm doctorjazz:

Brought up the Bandcamp site, take a listen when the Drummer Stream Duo is done for the day, thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm listener james from westwood:

I initially read Scott's contribution as "69 Folk Songs," which if it were an actual Magnetic Fields set I could fully get behind.
  12:42pm rf:

great today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Webhamster Henry:

Lots of stars today!
  12:45pm Listening Out There:

Do it, Bruno!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Charlie:

Hey, Artie, rf, wood-elf.
Wood-elf -- translation?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Mike East:

what was that line about not being able to grow a beard?
Avatar 12:59pm glenn:

i hope judy didn't write that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Webhamster Henry:

This sounds like the bass, harpsichord and drums were overdubbed ... and maybe the laughs! A clean Alan Sherman track would be interesting to work with!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Mike East:

in reference to someone else. - "he's like an artist who gets a cabin in the forest then discovers that he can't grow a beard..." or something like that. I like that.
I'm sure Judy Collins could grow a beard if she really wanted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Charlie:

Mike East:
Society is never geared
To people who grow a beard
Or little girls with holes in their ears
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm drr:

wow, I don't think I've ever heard Jens Lekman on WFMU.
Avatar 1:06pm glenn:

if this ben colder isn't a plantation recording, i'll eat my incense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Parq:

This Beatles slow-down is kind of what morning feels like before coffee.
Avatar 1:10pm still b/p:

I like this. Sounds like something recorded deliberately by someone else and at normal speed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm doctorjazz:

There is a switch to change to 33 or 45 RPM, you know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Charlie:

Hey still b/p
I'll look for that switch, dr-j, lol
Avatar 1:14pm still b/p:

Boy in The Matrix: "There is no spoon."
Charlie: "There is no switch."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Charlie:

"Ol' Charlie stole the handle..."
  1:29pm jan:

Swirl- Charming tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Parq:

Oh by the way, gang, I saw "Don't Think I've Forgotten" last night. Must-see stuff. Mass. residents are reminded that some of the principal musicians featured in the movie are performing Sunday night in Lowell, prior to their appearance at Monty Hall next Tuesday. And, the movie is running at Film Forum through the week, with several screenings featuring in-person guests.
  1:30pm gary mitchell:

yeah.. Satie-ish
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Charlie:

Hi Gary!
Jan -- one of my favorite albums!
Parq -- looking forward to seeing that film! Gary Sullivan devoted a show to it the other night and wrote an article about it too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Mike East:

@Parq - I believe they are currently rehearsing here in our studios.
Avatar 1:36pm Carmichael:

I love the Association, probably even more than Scott Wlliams. Or is it Kurt Gottschalk?
  1:37pm johnk77:

@mikeeast
trey told me he liked the
cambodian rock
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Charlie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Parq:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm doctorjazz:

The Rasputina ROCKS, another name to check out somewhere or other.
