This last record in the trilogy is SOOOO good. Almost as good as that Mad Max movie, which is SOOO fucking dope!
Avatar 3:25am
Ryab:

I haven't heard anything from him since his first couple records from his SONOIO band.

Oh no. Another “Mad Max” screed! No! It doesn’t end! Agggh!

Um Tom Hardy is not a stupid person. pshh

JakeGould:

I respect you, Jherweg but I can’t deal with all of the “Mad Max” gushing I am hearing. I have PTSD from that.

Eyeless in Gaza, a wonderful sound.

JakeGould:

As far as I am concerned, “Rambo” is a crappy lunkhead film, but Arnold Schwarzenegger films from the 1980s are pretty great… Up until like… “Junior” I mean “Commando” is great, stupid stuff…
Avatar 3:36am
Ryab:

And his Arkestra.
  3:42am
JakeGould:

That said, I am not saying “Mad Max: Fury Road” is bad, but just it’s one of those films where the fan hype might ruin it for me. That almost happened with “The Matrix” and I am just a bit frayed from that experience.
Avatar 3:44am
Jherweg:

I don't usually eat up this mainstream blockbuster movie shit, but I really LOVED the new mad max, I want to go see it 5 more times.
  3:45am
JakeGould:

Okay, you convinced me! And when I think about it, I never saw any of the Mad Max films in a theater. All on VHS. So hey!
Avatar 3:47am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Here JakeG we might be on the same page; I gotta strong anti-populist streak. I liked the Beatles but they were a cartoon & I was tiny...
Avatar 3:49am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Nirvana & Seinfeld scared me off cause they were too popular...do I really have to talk about Stalone here??
Avatar 3:51am
Jherweg:

Some stuff that is popular is actually good, some stuff isn't like "Friends".
Avatar 3:54am
Jherweg:

The problem with popular stuff is that it gets crammed down your throat so much and over played that even if it is good you end up hating it anyway just because the marketing people try club you over the head with it so much that it makes you sick. I think I'm discerning enough to know what i think is good and when I'm being force fed something, I love Led Zeppelin and The Beatles , that being said I never really want to hear their music again thanks to to classic rock radio.
  3:55am
JakeGould:

Oh I am not against pop culture. Not at all. Just don’t like getting too hyped on things. One of my favorite action film experiences was going to see “Robocop” in 1987 in a theater. Nobody I was with knew what the film was about past the poster and it blew us away. Feh… I sound like an old sci-fi snoot.

Also, I liked Letterman on NBC but hated him on CBS. So when the show ended this week I shrugged; his edge has been dulled for years in my eyes.
Avatar 3:56am
Ryab:

I don't think I'm ever going to hear Bonzo's Montreaux or Within Without You on the radio. Around here, anyway.
  3:56am
JakeGould:

And now I will say I might see the film tomorrow. There.
Avatar 3:57am
Jherweg:

well it's just one guy's opinion, you could hate it.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Breaking Bad' for example went from this thing a few cool people whispered about to this must-see thing you couldn't escape - & I let it go by. I'm sure it's good.
...I kinda stopped watching stuff & just listen. I'm much more into music than movies or TV. & I stare @ the computer screen, of course.
It's not just your opinion - everybody's hyped on it.
Avatar 4:21am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...w/ the caveat it's just big dumb fun.

Lately I've been into watching reruns of "The Rockford Files' On METV.
Avatar 4:27am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

There's the value in a TV series of escape & familiarity. Ironic - as those seem opposite. Not your own familiarity, but a place to visit.
