♥ Yeah, @d¢ pät, again, I was listening from my car radio, but it isn't bad, and I usually expect and hear a much clearer signal over the air than the one last night. I wonder if somehow the same signal used for the stream is sent over the air, and sounds worse done that way. If you ever listen to the WFUV Alternate Side show, it also sounds awful listened over the FM band in the car, suspect the stream is somehow compressed and loses something when sent as an FM signal. But, I really don't know this to be true, only that, to my ears, the sound is really bad. (I actually did listen on my phone for a bit last night, and it did sound better, which is why I'm guessing the above about the digital stream).

Actually I guess it depends. Black Sabbath, They Might Be Giants, Titus Andronicus...there is room for lenience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am
Nate K:

I think that concept could work for songs: "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives" etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am
Nate K:

Black Sabbath is, to me, a near perfect name. Especially for that band at that time.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:51am

@Dean is Peter O'Toole Lending Library a real band? I kind of like it.

Agreed, Nate. It was different pre-internet. You couldn't just stream Black Sabbath anytime you wanted. But those dudes probably watched it 100 times (because it RULES)

Dean:

@melinda: Alas, no. I made it up a couple weeks ago and, pace ELO, I can't get it out of my head.
  10:53am
John Arthur:

Part of it is that you come up with a name when you're, say, 18, and then ten years later if you're lucky you've built that name up...and then you're 28 with some dumbass name you came up with before your prefrontal cortex was even fully developed.

"Death Cab for Cutie" was also a song performed by the house band in a strip club in a scene in "O Lucky Man" early in the film.

Fat & Fucked Up was the name of a string quartet in LA during the early punk years. I also dislike DCfC. And there's a new pop band with a dumb name the kids listen to these days. Can't remember it, though. SOMETHING the People.
