Listener comments!

P-90:

Can this be for real? Say it ain't so, Al Jean...

http://insider.foxnews.com/2015/06/09/homer-and-marge-simpson-are-legally-separating-27th-season-simpsons

[Homer will be dating new character voiced by Lena Dunham]?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am
Amanda:

Hey P-90! They've split up many times before and gotten divorced at least once. Homer even married a cocktail waitress in Vegas that time. So I'm sure this is just another rough patch they can weather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am
listener james from westwood:

@P-90: Reminds me of that "We Didn't Start the Fire" roundelay of various plot ideas they did after one episode. Does Marge become a robot? Does Moe get a cellphone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm
listener james from westwood:

Unrelated: I suspect I'll be envying those dogs tomorrow when it hits 90!

It's true though! It IS nice to be with you listeners.

P-90:

Sounds like an extended "arc" of shows that will afford a chance to explore stuff they haven't done yet- if it's time to jump the shark, they're gonna do it with style; intended to be the strong "refresh" a show needs periodically, when it runs for decades and decades...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
listener james from westwood:

An arc would be ballsy, but hell, the show's been on for this long; why not experiment?
Avatar 12:09pm
KP:

"So Nice" could be your "Elusive Butterfly."

Hoboken Jack:

At cocktail parties, I wonder how often Hadley Murrell steers the conversation to the best Arizona garage bands of 1967-70.
  12:16pm
P-90:

@James: exactly, I think that's what they have in mind. May also shift story focus away from Harry Shearer-voiced characters if they still haven't settled things up with him. I call it an "arc" because it will almost certainly be a multi-episode thing, they've signed Lena Dunham, they have a chance to build a new character with her that goes beyond a one-episode appearance and story.

so this painter came over to give me an estimate on some work, and says "hey, you look like a music fan. I'm going to see Stevie Tyler tomorrow night" I said "there's an Aerosmith concert...?" And he replied "nah, he's in my AA group!"

another great Simpsons Time! the amount of nuance they packed into Hugh Jass' 10-15 seconds of screen time still blows my mind.

@jay c, thanks for ID'ing the Bostons - an unintentional tie-in with Aerosmith and Billy Squier today.

BTW, next time you see/hear the "Flaming Moe's" Cheers opening credits parody, check out what an utterly astute Paul Simon impression the vocal is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
Jeff Golick:

Thanks, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
Jeff Golick:

@P-90: I think it was the sheer fact that Perry was in my high school that colored the experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

According to my readings today, Hank Azaria flew to Boston to help Aerosmith record their lines. The ending theme song for the episode is a short version of "Young Lust" they recorded specifically for the show. Also, the pickled eggs bit was something the band requested.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Amanda:

All true.
Also, important: Music + lyrics to the Flaming Moe's song were written by Jeff Martin.
