Andy S.:

The Vibrations -- about whom I know almost nothing -- had an remarkably diverse recording career. In addition to "The Watusi," they cut "My Girl Sloopy"with Bern Berns, the first version of a song that evolved into the better-known "Hang On Sloopy"; an album of supper-club standards (MISTY, '66), and "Love In Them There Hills" ('68), one of the toughest Gamble/Huff productions of all time.

The Vagrants!!!! Wow!
Dancing in the Seat!
  3:26pm
Andy S.:

The Vagrants! I saw them open for The Doors in '67 at the Village Theater (later the Fillmore East). It was like 95 degrees in the place and Leslie West -- who weighed in at about 300 lbs. -- was wearing a leather coat (or maybe a cape). I remember feeling scared that he was gonna have a heart attack on stage but felt better when their bubble machine swung into action during the instrumental version of "Theme from 'Exodus.'"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
pacific standard simon:

Quite a bit different from the album version!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm
Parq:

I remember seeing the Vagrants on a couple of talent shows on TV before they got signed. Leslie West was a big fellow, yes.

Ted, as you would have it, I've never met a version of "Respect" I didn't like.

Ah, one of my favorite Neil songs...
