David Garland's show was a favorite for me when he first came on air. Was it after 9-11 that they moved his show to later and less frequently? It would be great to have him on WFMU. One of the great voices in his own sound- speaking voice, his music and the music that he featured. Great radio personalities continue to leave the airways. Stay with us, Irwin.

While standing in the line at the grocer's, I glanced at an article about the Bushes and how they financed Nazi Germany. I thought to myself "Dave Emory discussed that at length years ago." WFMU leading the pack over tabloid newsprint.

so the digital prepared piano is not digital samples from actual prepared pianos, but a program that has somewhat random algorithms to affect the sound of the performance - ie: reverse, time stretch, delay type effects
Is that correct?
  5:37pm
Laura L:

Yeah, a Spinner is a weirdo, an oddball, someone who's nuts--comes from the verb spinnen--to make stuff up in your head. it's pronounced like Schpinner, not Spinner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm

i think the word is also used to blame someone for doing something (sometimes dangerous) against the current. like if you jay walk and everyone on the curb says, "spinst du (you nut job, you), all the kinder will see what a bad example you are."
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:45pm
Alison Porchnik:

Yeah, Irwin, but the first lesson only teaches you two baffling non sequiturs and one silly walk. If you want a second lesson (and you will) you'll get bilked. That's how they f#ck you!
  5:47pm
Laura L:

Yes, that's right--"Spinnst du?!" is "Have you lost your mind?!?" And that's right, AP, after one Lesson Free, you will PAY AND PAY AGAIN!
