Today’s show: The fourteenth edition of an annual holiday tradition: Rob Weisberg and longtime sidekick Katie Gentile play radio ping-pong, trading tracks back and forth. Rob, as you may know, is an unpaid radio DJ and record geek. Katie, on the other hand, is an academic, blogger, author, open-water swimmer and violinist in the band The Special Pillow. Exciting new developments: Katie’s second book, The Business of Being Made (Routledge) will be out in January. And the Special Pillow’s song Automatic Doom, penned by leader Dan Cuddy and arranged by the band, is covered by Yo La Tengo on their new album Stuff Like That There - here’s Yo La Tengo performing Automatic Doom on national television.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm maestroso:

Yes, me too. Your picks complement each other.
Avatar 6:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- indeed: what could be more delightful than being introduced to that Denny & Strawbs track? Rob then perfectly countering it w/ an even more far-flung 'International' track...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Gaylord Fields:

Whew! You're finally doing one of these radio ping-pong shows as a state-sanctioned on-air duo. I was taking a real risk listening to you spin in sin.
  6:32pm foofs:

The Volebeats did a beautiful version of Abba's Knowing Me, Knowing You a long time ago... dunno if it was a BBC radio session or a record though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Rob & Katie:

Yes it's true, we're no longer spinning in sin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Rob W:

Thanks foofs re: Volebeats, we'll have to look into that for future reference...
Avatar 6:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(...perhaps iPad is made for headphones & needs to be cranked?...)
'Somewhere In My Heart' went on the Songs to Learn & Sing list (ha - we'll see...)
  6:50pm JakeGould:

@GaylordFields: Those radio shows where common law couples co-mingle make me feel the need to tithe more.
  6:51pm katie:
