Live performance by Goddess

Experimental folk ensemble Goddess writes, as they describe it, "...songs about the dark places in our heads and pasts, influenced by madrigals, Bartok, nursery rhymes, Amish culture, Sandy Denny, the Polanski movie Fearless Vampire Killers, shamanic trance music, a deer organ we found in the woods, church hymns, showtunes and Krautrock." On their latest album, "Paradise," founders Andy, Tamalyn and Fran perform on their usual blend of unconventional instruments, which include a homemade horsehair fiddle, toystore guitar and keyboard, dulcimer and tree branch. Goddess brought their darkly beautiful music to the WFMU studios.

...they use Belladonna to dilate your pupils when you go the eye doctor...course it literally means 'lovely lady' - & the pupil dilation was considered attractive in Medieval times...

Sean! Digging the set so far. I didn't know where the name Hatfield and the North came from until I saw the highway sign in one of the last panels of Alan Moore's "V For Vendetta". Funny where these things come from sometime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm

I had a friend in Mass'chu who dug the band big time. He used to pronounce it "Hatfield and the Noth", of course.

Coming back for more of this show, because, you know,

KATE BUSH! (and Peter the Angel Gabriel)
Avatar 11:01am
Van in DC:

Two quick notes on the "Another Day" and Roy Harper talk / references:

1. There is also an amazingly beautiful & haunting version of "Another Day" out there that was done by This Mortal Coil, featuring the incredible Liz Fraser of Cocteau Twins fame, on their outstanding 1984 LP "It'll End In Tears".

2. Roy Harper not only first wrote & did "Another Day" in which we heard the KaTe & Peter cover here on this show from KaTe's incredible BBC live Christmas show, but KaTe & Roy Harper have a wonderful little duet of their OWN out there called, simply, "You".

Awesomeness all around, and well done Sean & Irene!
