Live Performance by Spaghetti Eastern Music (Sal Cataldi)

New York-based guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Sal Cataldi creates charmingly off-center music as his alter-ego Spaghetti Eastern Music. Cataldi mashes up, as he describes it, "ambient soundtracks a la Morricone/Fripp and clavinet-singed funky from the P-Funk playbook, (topping) it off with acoustic ballads where smiley melodies camouflage bitter lyricism about broken love..." The resulting music is filled with musical references from Sal's "Smithsonian-Sized" record collection. Spaghetti Eastern Music gave a live performance on Irene's show.

Hullo Hullo; into almost Pat Metheny territory here - kewl - I haven't been there in some time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi Bronwyn and Rev. Rabbit! Glad you're enjoying the tunes. Maybe I'll creep something by Pat in there a bit later on.

Do you have any plans for the apples? Pies, strudel, apple wine, etc.? I bake apple pies occasionally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

I love his band/artist name and his album name. This guy is great at naming stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm
Irene Trudel:

Ken, I think that's in the plans definitely. The bag is huge-- way more than we can eat individually. I'm open to suggestions too.

Bronwyn Bishop:

Anything Morricone-influenced is all right by me!

Lauterbach's! I was once in an acoustic Trio that played there a lot. Loved that place! Was the owner named Alice?

Sounds great tonight!

JakeGould:

“My family (uncle/cousins) operated Lauterbach's when it was just a neighborhood bar. This was back in the early 1950's. I just saw an article from Esquire magazine that it seemed to be a live, swinging place again. Anyone have any information?”

Tx for the kind and insightful comments folks, and to Irene for having such open ears/taste and being the best live engineer in the biz. Yep not exactly Bonham sample just an approx laid over a beat I built. Anyone who wants to write me direct can reach me at spaghettieasternmusic@cataldipr.com

Per our chat Irene, a wonderful little video of Steve Tibbets performing Hendrix's Villanova Junction, the final little jazzy blues Hendrix did to close his Woodstock set. Must see: https://youtu.be/NTNImbkQkow
