That Third Floor Stangers tune from WGRQ Buffalo was great, but having grown up near Buffalo I didn't recognize those call letters. Looked it up. We all knew it as the might 97 Rock. Stations who hide their call letters–sheesh.

One scene from that episode I like is where Bart and Krusty are behind the studio after Bart flopped. Bart says "Life can be pretty cruel, huh Krusty?" and looking to share some sympathy. Right at that moment, the door just slams.

Like to hear you try "Riu Chiu."
"Daydream Believer" recorded with "Words" June 14, 1967; overdubs added August
  11:40pm
JakeGould:

FWIW, I really liked the fact that the whole “Bart Gets Famous” episode was commenting on things like that whole “Do the Bartman!” and “Don’t Have a Cow!” era of the Simpsons. Back when they were meta.

And Homer’s “Can’t talk, I’m wearing a towel…” thing is right up there next to the time he ate all of the American cheese slices and simply said, “I think I’m blind.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm
Amanda:

In that show they are meta in a pretty subtle way, which I appreciate. Definitely they are commenting on the bootleg T-shirt days (the box of merch even shows up at the end) but it is done quite subtly up to that point, just being about Bart as the I Didn't Do It boy. Similar to Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie when there's really no direct acknowledgement of the 4th wall until the very end when static interrupts the action.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I once had a bootleg "Rasta Dude Bart Marley" T-shirt, but I somehow lost it on vacation.
  11:49pm
JakeGould:

@Ken: And those “Crack Kills” shirts with Bart in the ass-crack of some lady. Classic! The one I am most fascinated with is the whole world of Iraq war (1990s) bootleg Bart shirts where he’s hunting down Saddam Hussein. www.defunkd.com...
