Just as this demon began speaking, it started sleeting here in Sunset Park. Coincidence?

Hey Dave, a thought: Have you ever played any castrato singers? I have a few comp cds, strange stuff.

Dan… Way to spoil “Star Wars” telling of Darth Allen’s death.

Well @Jake, I finally saw "Star Wars: A New New Hope". It was... fun, but over-hyped. The trailer for the movie was a lot better than the movie. Thanks for not spoiling the big moment where Jar Jar turns to the Dark Side and strangles Yoda with his tongue.

Listener Robert:

I curse in tongues. That's what a friend calls it. Starting around the turn of the century, when I do something like stub my toe, I burst out in nonsense phonemes -- but over time, often the SAME phonemes. Like, "Yavootz!"

Ike:

@LR, I just shout "Mad Deadly Worldwide Communist Gangster Computer God!" when I stub my toe.
  7:13pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: Ike the amount of plot holes in that film are stunning, right? Even by “Star Wars” movie standards. Better than the prequels, but not so amazing.

FWIW,. did anyone in the theater with you get excited vocally at any scene? When I saw the “Special Edition” rereleases and even a few of the prequels, some people got pumped. I saw it the first show on opening day (100% no effort to impulse buy a ticket) and utterly nobody was “psyched” about what happened.

Dan Bodah:

Hi all -- @Carmichael, I thought there was only one extant recording of a genuine castrato. I know we have it here and it's on my list to get to eventually. Are there others? Please let me know (titles, artist names, etc)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Ike:

There were a few murmurs of surprise, some laughs, etc., but they weren't loud (but I was down visiting Protestant-land, and we're not an expressive people). I really liked the new characters, and Adam Driver was surprisingly interesting (I always like a volatile and emotional villain), but yeah, the plot needed work. Overall it just reminds me why I'm more of a fan of harder and/or more eccentric sci-fi rather than this fluffy stuff.

...what's the African tribe that considers Jimmie Rodgers supernatural for his yodeling?...
Avatar 7:19pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the Kipsigis tribe, "Chemirocha"...
  7:19pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: To me this film makes me feel the following: That in the great scheme of things, “The Empire Strikes Back” was seen as a mistake by Lucasfilm because it actually created a mature pollen with new ideas where nobody wins but people learn and grow.
  7:21pm
Listener Robert:

Ike, are you also a fan of FAKE sci-fi? That is, something that appears to be sci-fi but turns out to be a caper in which all the sci-fi elements turn out to be fake?
Avatar 7:23pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...there are no jokes in the Bible, & no yodeling in StarWars...
