Listener comments!

  8:03pm Listener Robert:

Comment threads point to a STL problem Jersey City to E. Orange.
  8:05pm JakeGould:

@ListenerRobert: Everything is fine now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm dale:

i read that lewis and dody had 92 verses for that song. don't know if i'd want to be in the audience for that.
  8:07pm Listener Robert:

Yay, good news, Jake!
  8:21pm Listener Robert:

What limited the speed of these turntables? Flyweights?
  8:23pm Listener Robert:

I'm assuming an escape wheel would've been too slow, noisy, & breakable, so the only other speed control that comes to mind is fly weights.
Avatar 8:25pm MAC:

It was a governor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm dale:

still gotta fix my governor. i have the weight, i just need the springy part it is riveted to replaced.
  8:31pm Listener Robert:

Thanks, MAC, but does "governor" refer to a particular kind of device, or did you just give me a tautologic answer?
Avatar 8:33pm MAC:

youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm dale:

a governor is a real thing, three weights that spin on springy metal arms. google it. it
  8:35pm Listener Robert:

OK, so from the video, a combination of flyweights & springs. Tnx.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm dale:

mac, does stanley tape measure material make a good replacement as i have read?
  8:36pm JakeGould:

Governors always limit things. Oooh, governors!
Avatar 8:37pm MAC:

  8:39pm Natalie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm dale:

  8:56pm Listener Robert:

Lowering the bar for irritainment, MAC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm dale:

ha ha! i can you doing the thing with your hand where you point at all the notes as you sing them.
  9:06pm Tom Gervat:

What a hoot your Moriah "Auld Lang Syne" impression. Only thing I can compare it to is a musical saw. Now you're gonna have to sing it at parties. Ouch!
