- this sound is much better though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
Irene Trudel:

Quite alright, coelacanth. The archive will be up right after the show as well. Fripp's been issuing a whole bunch of concert tracks through this site.

Irene Trudel:

Har, Har, Andrew! Hi Matt! Yes, Michael Brown did a few other projects after The Left Banke. Hi Van!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

I imagine Clay P. would enjoy this, you can hear a bit of the baroque Left Banke influence in here, as well as America, 70s Beach Boys and other lush production.

Avatar 11:10pm
Van in DC:

So I watched Ziggy Stardust tour on film for 1st time yesterday, in 1982 or so. Wow. Bowie said it was the last time they would tour. Was that true? Dunno, but wow. That building, the Hammersmith Odeon, has seen more emotion than probably anywhere. Great concert by the way. Right when KaTe was huge as well as Toyah. Brilliant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Shapes and Shadows"! I'm diggin' this comp, but this is kind of my bread and butter anyway!

@Van: "When the kids had killed the man / I had to break up the band" He did break up the band right after that tour, even the legendary Mick Ronson. That film, I gotta see all of it sometime.
Avatar 11:15pm
Van in DC:

Mick Ronson...wow. He was incredible on the guitar. Wowsers. He rivaled Lindsay Buckingham on the extended guitar solos. Just incredible.
  11:16pm
V Priceless:

Ronno and Trev stayed on for 'Pin Ups' and early Diamond Dogs cuts a la live 1980 Floor Show. Love the Spiders. Just saw Woody doing TMWSTW.
  11:16pm
Listener Robert:

And to think that until now I'd thought "Marjory Daw" was just nonsense syllables!
Avatar 11:17pm
Van in DC:

I have that Ziggy appearance, the last of the tour, right where I saw KaTe by the way, at the legendary Hammersmith, on tape. Or... DVR rather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

If it was spelled "Dawe" or "Dawes", that could be a plausible English name...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hammersmith, so many legendary shows there.

Therese played Bowie's live version of the Velvet U's "White Light/White Heat" from the Ziggy Stardust film on her tribute, I never heard that before but WOW! He made an energetic "Suffragette City" type song out of it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Irene: The band name is "Episode Six", not "Eposide".
I looked them up, and it is in fact Episode Six (though, a name like "Eposide" would be great for a psych band, wouldn't it? :)
Avatar 11:22pm
Van in DC:

At the last show on that tour, at Hammersmith, Suffragette City was the very last song. It was after a double encore. Just an amazing concert. Film of it highly recommended!
Avatar 11:24pm
Van in DC:

Toyah played Hammersmith. Bowie did. And last year, KaTe, for a few shows... from what I saw, and from what I personally did, SO MANY TEARS and emotions are left there at Hammersmith. What an incredible venue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

"If the walls could talk", as they say...
Avatar 11:39pm
Van in DC:

I so wish I could do one show live on FMU. Oh my goodness would the world be astonished. Freeform, great. I'm probably beyond that. Sigh. I can't even ASK for what is never played. Oh well. FMU is the closest I can get to my wheelhouse.
