Hey there, Martha! How goes it? You're probably going to hear a lot of crazy talk about Angelwitch, kale and maybe some questions about police blotters. Keep driving; it's par for the course in this time slot.

Polyus:

Oh man this is cool.
  10:51pm
Martha:

Hey - thanks for checking in - no Gog hasn't put out anything new in a while and his more recent stuff is quite different =- more "trad" metally - if I can say something like that - which is an oxymoron -
  10:51pm
Martha:

Glad you guys are liking it -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
Julie:

I never understood the comma between it and black
  11:02pm
KP:

Paint It Deep Purple.
  11:03pm
HipsterBlackMetal:

So did rolling stones cover this or vice versa?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm

Ian Paice, Superstar
  11:06pm
HipsterBlackMetal:

The comma is racist
  11:06pm
Martha:

Oh - it's the Stones - and I have no idea about that comma, except I like it -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm
coelacanth:

Paint it!...BLACK!
  11:08pm
Mark R.:

I think it was a mistake their label made, but it stuck. And a lot of people, like Martha, seemed to dig it.

"Black", as in redone in a Metal style. And with a drum solo that's just a wee bit too short. IMO.
  11:14pm
Mark R.:

The Screaming Abdabs is a new record, huh? You actually could have told me it was from any year including this one and I'd believe you.
  11:14pm

Cool! Another "out" Stones cover...and new to me

Screaming Abdabs - from ?1980? - not new but a new issue so I marked it that way -
  11:30pm
Martha:

@MR: makes sense to me. That recording is one of the greatest sounding records of all time - great to listen to through headphones in the dark -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm

we finally got some snow up here. i'm going for a walk.
Thanks Martha.
ciao folks.

Elias Hulk were from UK.
  11:38pm
P-90:

Ha! Funny, I was casually guessing '79-'80 for the Abdabs track.
  11:38pm
Mark R.:

It looks like Elias Hulk released an EP in 2012 (according to their website).
  11:39pm
P-90:

Only his Mom calls Dave "Goddamn David Hill".
  11:41pm
Martha:

OK:
1) Screaming A's recorded live in 1978, from Australi - great record;
2) Elias Hulk ~ from the UK; and
3) Sorry DAVID!; and
4) Thanks guys for all the info and help and comments, etc. - very much appreciated -

Martha, who did you say put out that Deep Purple thing? Can't seem to find it online.
  11:45pm
Martha:

Well, pretty much FUCKED THAT UP - but now we are back w/ M. of Urns - thank Christ -
  11:46pm
Martha:

Depp Purple: released by Seidr, which I believe is a French label that does a lot of older re-issues (like Soggy) -
Avatar 11:56pm
ottovonbqe:

that went by fast
  11:57pm
Martha:

Thanks all for checking in - I had a great time - hope to be on here again soon -
  11:57pm
Mark R.:

Looks like there's also a double live Deep Purple album called "Scandinavian Nights" on a label called Connoisseur Collection--a 1970 gig that was recorded for radio but not released until 1988.
  11:58pm
Mark R.:

It has "Paint It, Black" on it, so it's probably the same recording. Could find no info online about Seidr records or an album called "Space"!
  11:59pm
Martha:

@MR - interesting - have to check that out - am really loving that CD - once I got our of my somewhat endless HC/punk rock days - thanks for all your comments - very helpful- and thanks to everyone else too!

From the archive! That Gog track is suffocating, and yeah his more reverby drone stuff is probably better than the recent metal stuff....although that's pretty good too. Thanks for finishing with MoU. Weekly show again, please.
