Goodbye Children:

that song was awful, very un-FMU. The word awful used to mean, the bowels and guts of an animal, much like that crap music. You started strong, but this is awful, plain and simple. Sorry. you made me get up from dinner to say this.

Hi listener mark & Faye & Cheri Pi!!

martp, what is your "character"? DOES IT JUST CONSIST OF SCREAMING OVER THE PHONE?! (I must not listen to the show you call into :)
  8:30pm
martp:

I DON'T CALL INTO ANY SHOW. I AM NOT ACTUALLY GOING TO SCREAM AT PEOPLE WHEN WRITING DOWN THEIR PLEDGES
  8:30pm

OK THAT'S GOOD BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE MIGHT GET TURNED OFF BY THAT AND DECIDE NOT TO PLEDGE AFTER ALL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm

my vote is you stay in character

Avatar 8:47pm
listener mark:

@Cliff The radio station is nothing to get excited about. It's like any fraternity house. The furniture was found by the curbside. The kitchen is full of dirty dishes. During the weekdays, the JM in the AM crew has a thing for smoked whitefish. It has a humid, dusty, moldy feel, everything is slightly sticky, and it smells like someone threw up recently.
  8:49pm
steve:

heck yeah this rocks
  8:49pm
Cooh John:

Hellllllo Faye and fellow children. Great show as always. @Cliff: my bucket list has slot for volunteering at the WFMU marathon.
  8:50pm
JakeGould:

@listenermark: I wonder what it would be like to cultivate a sourdough culture in WFMU’s kitchen and then bake it into bread.
  8:51pm
Cliff:

listener mark: doesn't sound any worse than what I encountered in college. And I could wash the dishes, I don't mind doing that (that's the one thing I manage to do daily in my own apartment :/ )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
coelacanth:

"try this, i made it. 'tastes a little like vomit but it will colonise your gut with culture."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm

lol that's pretty harsh Mark but I cant say I particularly disagree

These dishes have mold and fungus on them. You put them in the sink and they slither back out.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm

hey i want credit for that one!
  8:55pm
Cliff:

LOL Faye, you think it's even better than Gaylord's disclaimer? I'm trying my best to avoid all heavy machinery right now
  8:55pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: Seriously, what if one could make bread or even Kombucha with the mold and bacteria in WFMU’s kitchen? That’s a marketable and replenishable resource!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm
Ike:

Yes, that Coelacanth's. But is "WFMU: It Will Colonize Your Eardrums' Guts. With Culture" better? Or "Brain-Gut"? "Your Brain's Guts"? Too much second-guessing?
  8:56pm
Cliff:

Biological samples from WFMU's kitchen should be one of next year's premiums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm
Ike:

*that's
  8:56pm
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Listener Mark described the station itself, I riffed in using the bacteria/fungus for good, you made a quip and so did Ike. Figure it out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm

Ken will re-phrase it how he sees fit anyway!

Thanks Faye!

I knew it! I'll bet they're visitors from the astral planes
  9:20pm
JakeGould:

Really hoping Kommie Kilpatrick was/is making a Steve Martin reference with that track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm
Andrew Waterloo:

Wow, the K record thing reads like the family member who owes you thousands, but demands recognition for 'working on it' and then points out that they bought your kids Christmas presents.
  9:26pm
JakeGould:

@AndrewWaterloo: Pretty much. I’ve heard things on and off during the years but the depth of the quotes is pretty stunning in that piece. I don’t think Calvin Johnson is evil, but it seems like yet another chapter in the “master screws labor” angle that sadly permeates the art and music world.
  9:27pm
Ahmad:

Just listened to this album for the first time last night. Incredible.

@JakeGould, It seems more like a general lack of ethics. It doesn't help when you have a situation where nobody thinks anyone involved could possibly be shady.
Avatar 9:42pm
listener mark:

The US Mail brought the latest marathon swag list. And it has different "On Air" times!! "Hello Children" is on from 10 PM to Midnight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm
Andrew Waterloo:

Shoegaze turning into dreamy Steely Dan seems plausible.
Avatar 9:43pm
listener mark:

maybe I'm reading that wrong.
  9:44pm
JakeGould:

@AndrewWaterloo: Yeah, it doesn’t help. But honestly—and I say this as a guy—I just hear so many of these situation where some guy is in charge of some arts/music thing and it’s all fun and games and then people get screwed. It’s like such an unwritten norm it’s almost inevitable something like that would come up.
