Fabio played "Rum Jungle" from The Necks maybe a year or two ago on his show, and that got me to check them out. Great band!

Cliff is that a film? I was trying to remember if Wallace Berman made a film of a trip like that.
Whoever it was I've seen the film and it's spacy as hell. That simultaneous mix of tedium and ecstasy that's like catnip to artists.
The last Movie is not a good film but there are some great images in it because Hopper had such a good eye. Well worth watching!
  4:52pm
Cliff:

It was a film Fabio was just talking about called Embrace of the Serpent....we were trying to guess the names of the adventurers. I looked it up on IMDb and apparently it was based on the diaries of Theodor Koch-Grunberg and Richard Evan Schultes.

I was feeling very disoriented. Music and playlist conflicts do that to me. Better now.
Avatar 5:01pm
Fabio:

Yes, it is Richard Evan Schultes that is the main character of the later part of the story -- all based on actual events. Schultes was a university (Harvard?) professor/researcher who was studying the effects of certain plants and their mind altering properties - like Yage, etc...
