Tacocat = bad name; Adult Books = great name
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm

It's a week later and I still have the Meat Sweats! Goodness!

Mind Spiders = bad; Khun Narin Electric Phin Band = great
Avatar 12:31pm
The Contessa:

Ha, Ken in HP, you're still there. We wanted to wish you a happy birthday! Enjoy the cake! See you on Friday
Avatar 12:33pm
just dc pat:

wow. Yeah, Prince Rama looking pretty dumb now. Sheesh.
  12:33pm
Polyus:

Yes, promotion seems to be the one thing Prince Rama are good at.
Avatar 12:34pm
just dc pat:

They definitely follow there own unique muse..
  12:36pm
rw:

Tacocat is a palindrome but still may not be a great name for a band. It did cause me to take notice though...
Avatar 12:38pm
just dc pat:

so is shitytish, also not a good name. Although Bozozob might be..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Contessa & Adrian. When I count my blessings, chocolate cake is certainly one of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
JP from KC:

I disagree. Shitytish is an awesome band name, and not a palindrome. the last "s" and "h" would have to be switched.
Avatar 12:44pm
just dc pat:

see? bad group name and NOT in fact a palindrome... I still like Bozozob though..
  12:45pm
rw:

JP from KC, I'm pretty sure my friend Wade used to have that very view of the Western Auto sign from the back porch of his condominium.
  12:48pm

Never get tired of Mulatu Astatke. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Best song name ever: Spiro Agnew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Well, Iceland's Prime Minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson has resigned because of the Panama Papers scandal. Thus, Björk moves one step closer to leading the country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Liz Berg:

Ha ha, I can't resist a song called Spiro Agnew!
Avatar 12:52pm
just dc pat:

well if your dad's name is "Gunnlaugs," what do you expect?
Avatar 12:53pm
just dc pat:

let's see...what's Bjork's dad's name...
Avatar 12:54pm
just dc pat:

well..a little better: Guðmunds
  12:54pm
Cliff:

"Gunnlaugs" is in genitive case, the nominative is probably "Gunnlaug"
Avatar 12:55pm
just dc pat:

I thought that "s" might be wrong.
  12:55pm
Cliff:

Actually I think it's "Gunnlaugr"
Avatar 12:57pm
just dc pat:

The big prob with Gunnlaugsson is that he campaigned on "cleaning up the banking industry." What a chump..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm going to put Panama Papers on my list of band names to use some day.
  12:58pm
Cliff:

There's the Saga of Gunnlaugr Serpent-Tongue, or "Gunnlaugs saga ormstungu" in Old Norse: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 12:59pm
just dc pat:

My next group will be Guðmundr
Avatar 1:00pm
just dc pat:

..that'll teach Bjork...
  1:00pm
Cliff:

I should change my name to Cliffr Serpent-Tongue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm

Panama Papers is indeed a great band name, Ken!

Jeff:

These guys were amazing to see performing, to see how the people and the pieces of the music come together.

...and it makes total sense that the dreamlike dystopian soundscape and sightscape and the intense man all in white should have been inspired by Dhalgren in particular and Delany in general. Now I think I should have just known.
Avatar 2:35pm
Alejandro in TO:

Toronto has been described as one of the most "multicultural" cities in the world, I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm

Glad you guys are digging the interview! Such a fascinating group of people in Ono, super excited they wanted to share their stories.
Avatar 2:41pm

I assume it's not supposed to make sense... but you read it, you experience it like a fever dream, and it leaves dream residue in your mind.

Highly recommended.

It is also worth tracking down Delany's autobiography, The Motion of Light in Water. So many little details from his life end up in his fiction.
Avatar 2:46pm

doesn't Delany live in New York City? he might be listening, for all we know.
