Avatar 8:26pm Scraps:

Oh no, Cal Stewart's laugh...
  8:26pm Listener Robert:

What was the result of that work to get sound out of ancient pottery? With the theory that it would've acted as a recording cylinder impressing ambient sound while someone grooved it as it turned on a wheel. I forgot, did that work or not?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm dale:

i'll bet a studio in nyc in 1908 smelled like sweat and horse crap and garbage and trolley grease.
Avatar 8:27pm Scraps:

I wonder when laugh tracks started....
Avatar 8:28pm MAC:

The one in NJ in in 2016 does too!
  8:30pm Listener Robert:

Dale, considering the competition was a piano, I bet the recording studio smelled like money.

Scraps, I'll bet in ancient theater there were shills paid to laugh & applaud at the bad material to get the rest of the audience in "the right mood".

  8:58pm Listener Robert:

Peter Schickele had a Quoianasquatsi parody that included "coy hotsy-totsy".
Avatar 8:58pm Scraps:

"Syncopaters" as a generic band name should be revived.
