howdy Nick and Namestatliers!

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:17am Alejandroool:

howdy and salutations! bartending shift but bar is dead, streaming the show along with some experimental old b&w films by Maya Deren on the projector
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:19am Becky:

Where's the Prince? I didn't hear it last week, but I thought maybe you got caught off guard and didn't have time to incorporate it into your show. But this week? WHERE'S THE PRINCE?
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:19am coelacanth:

that sounds like my kind of bar!
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:19am Nick Name:

ha ha funny Becky - my wife trying to be funny everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:21am mauri:

coelacanth: It was in southeast Finland at my parents place. they live by the lake Saimaa. I was carrying water to sauna and saw that little owl on a tree.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:22am Alejandroool:

coela, on the right kinda night yes, yes, it would be yer kinda bar. We have a HD full of films that belongs to one of the sound engineers, we play on the wall via a projector. We've got a small front room and a back room for 400 capacity shows etc. One of our first signs of Spring is when Acid Mothers Temple comes through here for their yearly tour
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:22am mauri:

ooh.. that prince. so the bel-air one is ok? thats good then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:23am Alejandroool:

heheeeh I'm sure there are some interesting Prince covers you could find...?
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:23am coelacanth:

@12:19 haha! i was just about to politely tell (her) ...you that you screwed up by not listening to Kurt's show a few hours ago!
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:24am P-90:

Nick Name is The Prince. Of Friday mornings.
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:24am Becky:

PRINCE PRINCE PRINCE (say it with me...)
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:25am coelacanth:

cool, mauri. is that a female snowy owl?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:26am Ike:

Agreed, P-90.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:28am mauri:

It's a pygmy owl. it's about 15cm tall
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:29am coelacanth:

alright - prince prince prince.
... but i have truly enjoyed hearing all the Prince rarities over the week; even though i haven't paid much attention to him for a few decades.
...i do wish there was more attention paid to the other significant losses over the last few weeks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:30am Fuzzy:

Mason Williams on line 1 for you, sir...
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:31am coelacanth:

wow,mauri- okay! i thought it was much bigger by the picture.
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:33am man:

yo this is some of best music ive ever heard . my dude
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:33am JakeGould:

Yeah, this station is not focusing enough on losses other than Prince… Like that guy who wrote the Mister Softee jingle… Get with it people!
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:33am coelacanth:

'Jandro, it sounds awesome! ...i don't thrive in crowded situations, so i still think tonight might be right for me though!
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:35am coelacanth:

Jake, i can't think....how's that go?
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:36am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Pretty sure Bryce will have a 3 hour tribute to the guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:37am Alejandroool:

oh tell me about cc, yes I like a sparsely attended low key bar. and NN's show is pretty spot on for right now.//
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:38am coelacanth:

hey ya! Amazing set Nick!
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:40am coelacanth:

i dunno,Jake...mister softee music might be too commercial for Bryce.
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:43am JakeGould:

411 on Mister Softee jingle man. www.dnainfo.com...
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:44am coelacanth:

...i played the melvins' version of this in the bar last night. (speaking of low-key bar nights)
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:44am lavery:

Woke up too early (curse of the shift worker) but yo Sun Ra. OKAY.
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:44am lavery:

In London )))
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:46am coelacanth:

oh, no i didn't...i was confused and thinking of interstellar overdrive. (i was wondering where the lyrics came from. duh.)
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:47am rw:

  Fri. 4/29/16 12:48am flashbazbo:

I have tried prince. Now I can say I don't like prince. Is this allowed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 12:49am Alejandroool:

anything goes bazbooo
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:50am coelacanth:

Thanks Jake! i really was hoping you'd hum a few bars on the comment board though.
flashbazbo, it's okay. at least you tried.
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:50am rw:

Nick, you should play some Prince for your wife.
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:52am rw:

Though personally I'm a little Princed out.
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:53am rw:

Did I hear that Bob Mould is a Resident? Could this be true? Seems so improbable.
  Fri. 4/29/16 12:57am MONEYBAG$:

he was formerly a resident.... of Prince's hometown
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 12:58am coelacanth:

there's maybe 10-12 artists that are generally popular amongst fmu djs &/or commenters that i can't stand at all or much. i don't trust people who think they like everything that the cool kids say is okay.

hey rw.
i'm not quite Princed-out, but i've only heard maybe 6 hours-worth of tribute, total; and most of that's been rare stuff that is nothing like all the commercial stuff i've heard all these years.
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:02am man:

She's on Crack is amazing!
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 1:04am coelacanth:

that was a great version. i used to collect versions of caravan. my Duke Ellington versions are not as lively as this one, by far.
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:06am flashbazbo:

Yeah I put in some time. And I got accused of being a 70s rockist reprobate on some unhip forum.
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:09am rw:

coel, I caught the first hour of Matt Warwick's Prince tribute the other day. It was pretty great and not at all what I think of when I think of Prince, though it made sense that he would have those chops.

Also agree with you on that version of Caravan. Irwin has good taste and vast knowledge.
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:09am flashbazbo:

Caravan with a drum sola. Yeah baby
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 1:10am Alejandroool:

I enjoyed MW's tribute. I never had a good time to appreciate Prince, so I've been appreciating aspects of him now for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 1:11am Scraps deSelby:

I still collect versions of Carvavan. Thank you!
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 1:13am JakeGould:

I have always liked Prince, but was never that into Prince. If a new Prince album came out, I’d shrug… But if the singles got traction and they were my thing, I would be into it. The tributes and stories of his interactions with other musicians and people in general have made me appreciate him even more. The back story of how he has silently donated money to help children, musicians who were ill and even libraries are pretty sweet. And the story of how he played synth on Stevie Nick’s “Stand Back” is pretty amazing. He’s uncredited but it’s him. Dude was a mensch.
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:17am Nick Name:

Hey p-90 / Ike / Fuzzy / man / JakeGould / lavery / rw/ flashbazbo / MONEYBAG$ / Scraps deSelby - thx all for checking in
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:19am Nick Name:

@ Fuzzy: the Bixio. Frizzy, Tempera - Facce Violente was pretty similar to classical gas , is that what you are referring to?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 1:19am Alejandroool:

Realllly enjoying the Rob Mazurek
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 1:19am JakeGould:

Also, “Purple Rain” is an amazing film. I just rematched opening 15 minutes and there is this fast edit montage near the end of “Let’s Go Crazy” that is just pure genius.
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 1:22am coelacanth:

i always liked him, but not all of him. i have 6 albums, which isn't a lot, considering, and i usually don't listen to any of them through.(maybe controversy)...but his gift was obvious.
.....i just don't like most synth-based pop music.
.....what i've been hearing lately though is a revelation.
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:23am man:

idc about prince. Nick u play insane stuff. this whole channel is amazing.
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 1:24am coelacanth:

i heard classical gas in there too. i didn't look; i assumed it was credited.
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:24am man:

Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 1:26am coelacanth:

oh and yes, i heard the first 1/2 of Matt's tribute today. Incredible!...the "black album" stuff? fucking insane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 1:36am Scraps deSelby:

I like that Richard Youngs stuff. Loopy-loop!
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 1:45am coelacanth:

Scraps, i was thinking you must have more "caravan"s than i, since i stopped collecting years ago; but also just realized that now -with the internet, i could resume that habit without spending a fortune....maybe even make it an obsession!
  Fri. 4/29/16 1:55am rw:

This Linda Sharrock is great. Seems it was recorded in 2014! Impressive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 2:02am Scraps deSelby:

coelacanth: yep. Used to a bitch, now it's considerably easier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 2:03am Alejandroool:

oooooooh Jiboia is pleasing
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 4/29/16 2:04am Scraps deSelby:

The Linda Sharrock album is definitely intriguing
  Fri. 4/29/16 2:09am rw:

night rw! I guess Paul Marcano (Lightdreams) is from B.C. - looking him up, his original vinyl copies of this album are worth $400+ - thankfully there's a reissue...

g'night rw.
Avatar Fri. 4/29/16 2:28am coelacanth:
