Howdy, I'm looking forward to another fine edition of Blurred & Obscured as I grapple with planned obsolescence. I've been copying old CD-R disks with audio & data to my hard drive to archive files, and 50% of the disks can't be read. So what better than listen to streaming WFMU!

nicely said. I dont want to live in world of digital music only either. yesterday I have spent whole afternoon browsing in 3 different record shops after some time (very hard to find them these days) what a nice afternoon, expect that I am broke again...

And my god, thank you for, well, dissing Frank Zappa. I end up liking FZ than disliking him; sometimes he's very good, especially for composing, okay; if only I didn’t speak English, I would enjoy Frank Zappa’s later albums, like You Are What You Is. As it is, I give them to my intelligent, sarcastic 13-year-old cousin.

I have all those records but I hardly ever want to listen to them .

I mean sure the guy can play the shit out of the guitar but who cares it's souless and corny music.

I've always loved Absolutely Free and We're Only In It For The Money. I partially blame my high school drug use for that. Other than those two, i don't have much use for Zappa.

"Ship Arriving Too Late..." has some great stuff on it. "Live from The Roxy and Elswhere" is a classic. Some of "Joe's Garage" is quite good.

hmm, Frank Zappa... 'seems to always be controversy.
...i remember hearing him for the first time when my older brother got absolutely freeeeeee in the late 60s and thinking (as a child, mind you) that it was pretty juvenile.
...but the invocation & ritual dance of the young pumpkin blew me away - and still does.

I hope you will be in the new schedule with a new good slot for you. I can't image wfmu without this show, for me the best show. So, after excellent loss in the past (Ning Ning, dangerous for the brain) I don't wanna loose my favorite. I don't know who is the man that decide the new schedule, but you can tell him What listeners think.
