As a child born in the late 80's I'm lumped into the category, but I see those years as the transitional period between generations. I know some people who were born around the same time I was that are true millenials, but there are still a lot, like me, who identify much more closely with "Generation X."

	3:50pm Lyle: William Burroughs, there was a weirdo. I was more fond of his brother, Edgar Rice Burroughs and his wonderful Tarzan books. Of course, I was a brief drinking partner of Johnny Weismuller. This was in his telephone pole climbing period of some embarrassment back in, what? The late 50's? I recall I was playing soprano trombone with Xavier Cugat at that time, and I spent most of MY time playing nanny to a very immature Charro, who was married to Xavier and was so completely bored with his orchestra and his artwork that she was about to break free and enjoy her own brand of hoochie-coochie success. Weismuller on the other hand was downward spiraling fast. I coaxed him off many a pole on that tour as he followed us from city to city, often taunting Xavier from the wings. They were not friends. Eventually, Johhny fell froma pole in Elk Horn, Wisconsin and cracked his coccyx. Very painful indeed. Cugat laughed as they loaded Johnny in the ambulance, and that was the last we saw of him. I left Cugat to briefly join Charro's band. but that didn't last long. Her folky brand of acoustic music didn't much need my trombone stylings. I would soon find better fortunes with John Gary and his wonderful, if poorly appreciated, small orchestra. I sometimes can still hear him sing Yellow Bird if I shut my eyes tightly enough.

	3:58pm Cecile: I think a lot of it has to do with where you grow up, birth order, parents background. In some ways, I'm a Traditionalist, and the calendar says I'm a Baby Boomer, but I probably relate most to Gen Xers (I was born in 1961).

There's the age at which nature says you're ready and the time when most of your friends seem to be proceeding. Realistically it's between about 18 to 35. You can do it earlier or later but that's the optimal window. Nature's done with you after that. Everybody Dance Now!

The green slime bit whenever anybody said "I don't know" mysteriously stopped working, but anyone who said the word "free" got hit with red slime. Of course, "water" still got you water, that's the same under capitalism or communism.

	♥ 5:15pm mariano: I'm more of a Beavis & Butthead fan. Was rewatching some of their music vid commentaries, there's a great one where they're watching a vintage Sabbath clip doing Iron Man. Since it was in the 90s, Beavis asks: "Are these guys from Seattle?" and Butthead answers "No assmunch, they're American!" Also, for the Clash "Should I Stay" live video, they come to the conclusion that Mick Jones is Seinfeld, which, to be fair, he does in that clip.

Gratified if I'm well in as a GenXer, really...But otherwise - an in-betweener on the other side of Xers... Buuut : As an Astrology Enthusiast...the positions of the slower Outer Planets are often correlated to differentiating Age Groups. (For example - when I was born - a Conjunction - a coming together - of Uranus & Pluto in Virgo correlating to Revolutions in Class & Civil issues & Technical things - w/ Neptune in Scorpio...too much to get into...) The very word 'Generations' is slippery if you wanna put it under a microscope. What is a 'Generation'? 30 Years? ...Loves Ren&Stimpy. Invader Zim too.

	5:27pm Cecile: Someone in a seminar was saying "oh, Xers saw recession, job loss, divorce, limited career options" and I said, "so did I". Being from a Rust Belt state is like being an instant Gen Xer in a lot of ways.

As a child born in the late 80's I'm lumped into the category, but I see those years as the transitional period between generations. I know some people who were born around the same time I was that are true millenials, but there are still a lot, like me, who identify much more closely with "Generation X."

	3:50pm Lyle: William Burroughs, there was a weirdo. I was more fond of his brother, Edgar Rice Burroughs and his wonderful Tarzan books. Of course, I was a brief drinking partner of Johnny Weismuller. This was in his telephone pole climbing period of some embarrassment back in, what? The late 50's? I recall I was playing soprano trombone with Xavier Cugat at that time, and I spent most of MY time playing nanny to a very immature Charro, who was married to Xavier and was so completely bored with his orchestra and his artwork that she was about to break free and enjoy her own brand of hoochie-coochie success. Weismuller on the other hand was downward spiraling fast. I coaxed him off many a pole on that tour as he followed us from city to city, often taunting Xavier from the wings. They were not friends. Eventually, Johhny fell froma pole in Elk Horn, Wisconsin and cracked his coccyx. Very painful indeed. Cugat laughed as they loaded Johnny in the ambulance, and that was the last we saw of him. I left Cugat to briefly join Charro's band. but that didn't last long. Her folky brand of acoustic music didn't much need my trombone stylings. I would soon find better fortunes with John Gary and his wonderful, if poorly appreciated, small orchestra. I sometimes can still hear him sing Yellow Bird if I shut my eyes tightly enough.
