Good afternoon Jason
Avatar 3:06pm
Jason Elbogen:

Hi Fred! Good you can hear me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
Jeff Golick:

Hi, Jason....what are you playing right now? Went from some free jazz, to so British 60s pop?
Avatar 3:09pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Jason Elbogen! A program like no other!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm
Jeff Golick:

Now a rhumba sort of thing with strings?
Avatar 3:10pm
Jason Elbogen:

Hey Jeff--I didn't play any Free Jazz (yet!) today. Maybe some other stream interference. Or some godawful incompetent DJing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
Goyim in the AM:

Yeah, I don't think you're on the Drummer stream -- I think we're getting the Drummer bot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
Jeff Golick:

Check SAMcast (if that's what you're using)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
Jeff Golick:

You're in studio C, right? I think you need to click "play" on the...uh...encoder area?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
Ike:

Sounds like Portuguese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
doctorjazz:

Hi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
doctorjazz:

Sounds like a samba here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
Goyim in the AM:

Aha! There you are!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
fred:

Yeah! You're on the stream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Where did all those bits go?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm
fred:

If a DJ plays a record when no one can hear the stream, does it make a sound?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Jeff Golick:

@Jason, I've done much worse/had the stream running much longer while I fumbled around. Doug hasn't fired me yet. He does make me take out the garbage every week, though.
Avatar 3:25pm
Jason Elbogen:

When I was at East Village Radio I once did an entire two hour show that was not streamed, archived, or heard by anyone. Afterwards I thought what I'd just 'achieved edged pretty close to the definition of insanity (i.e. a person sitting in a small cubicle without any windows talking to him/herself for two hours.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
melinda:

I'm enjoying this Om Guru. It reminds me of Music for Mind Control, which I miss every Friday morning because I'm not a morning person.
Avatar 3:29pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes melinda - there's a little overlap there. I think Micah's more about exposing cults, & Jason is more about finding the beauty of non-mainstream culture - the records others would pass by? All my words no one else's, mind you...Some of what Jason has played - I came up w/ the term 'Suburban Gospel' for it - for better or worse...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
SeanG:

All Hail Chief Kooffreh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
melinda:

Rabbit you're probably right, I'm new to this show and hesitate to compare one show to another, lest it appear that I don't appreciate the differences.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
Goyim in the AM:

...also Micah has also said that non-exploitative sincerity is no ground for exclusion from his show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
melinda:

Maoris are New Zealand
Avatar 3:39pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

When I listen to Micha - I'm afraid I'll like it & then hear it's a ripoff brainwashing cult - whereas Jason has made me reflect that - say - white suburban Xian singers may be sincere & have feelings I relate to. Not that Jason has no humor, nor Micah not appreciate the music & sentiments for what they are...I mean - Jason's played school recordings, vanity projects - he's just challenged my cultural frames of reference for Listening like no other DJ.

Alex In Illinois:

Canadia makes sense, since the people living there call themselves "Canadians" instead of "Canadans".
Avatar 3:40pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

*Micah (Irwin of course literally wrote the book on Outside Music &tc. - so there's some common ground there too...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
melinda:

Cavalcade of Unprofessionalism....that's a great line.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
fred:

You did nail "Hommage". But the t in "Et" is silent
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
Alex In Illinois:

And people from Hungary should be called "Hungarines"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
melinda:

@Rabbit: and with that endorsement I'll be tuning in more regularly here, for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
fred:

I think the track is called "L'année de l'enfant", which translates to "The year of the child"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
melinda:

This is beautiful. Spaghetti Westernish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
melinda:

No, sorry, not from Minnie.
Avatar 4:05pm
Mayuko:

Haha! if I ever become an ascetic, I'd choose years and years of nonstreamed-unarchived-unheard radio show to be my torment. (just saw the comment.)

hello Jason and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm
Jason_:

Heh, like DJ Sisyphus...
Avatar 4:11pm
Jason Elbogen:

Hey Mayuko. Yes, it was strange to think about being in that little box (no windows, small room, totally alone talking to myself for 2 hours)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

This was a fun hour, but I must ditch now. The county fair is happening!
Avatar 4:20pm
Mayuko:

I heard of a holy man in India who has kept his right hand raised for 40 years as his torment. That 2 hours of you in the small room is kind of like that. You've earned 2 hour amount of holiness, from eastern point of view.
Avatar 4:41pm
Thibault:

Hi Jason, good to hear you back!
Avatar 4:43pm
Jason Elbogen:

Hey Thibault! Great to be back--nice to hear from you again.

You haven't lost your touch! (and you haven't forgotten Chief Kooffreh) Wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
melinda:

Sounded at first like an ordinary nice little jazz number and then I heard 'Eckankar'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm
Jeff Golick:

Thanks, Jason. Gotta run. A Praise to You!
Avatar 5:28pm
Mayuko:

too bad he's not picking it up!
Avatar 6:06pm
Mayuko:

Thank you Jason for a beautiful little extension!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm

great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm

Bye! Hear you next week!
Avatar 6:20pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx JE !

Nice to have you back, Jason. The 'stream' is perfect for your eclectic taste (and mine, I may add). Til next time.
