I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Hi Gary, I'm early today, but the Drummer stream happens to feature some Cambodian and Thai goodness so that's a good thing

Today was swagmas for me, and it included that lovely notebook of yours, I guess that's why I can't wait for your show to start. Maybe I'll have to write with a pen again (though nobody can read my tiny handwriting, even I struggle)

Hi Mayuko! I remembered to tune in today!

So happy you got the notebook, fred! Thank you!! Hope you can take the advantage of it capable of being written from both sides.

Wow! This Vaudou Game track is great! I thought it had to be from Ethiopia but it turns out this band is from Togo

Hey, Mayuko! Eventually I had to start remembering your new day and time!

Studio C is not too bad today, yet. Vaudou Game I think based in France now?, must be fun to see them live!

Is that Satomi singing on that Blater/Saunier track?
Avatar 12:40pm

It's gotta be her, sounds like her and the album credits Satomi as vocals. No credits for each individual songs.

It's beautiful

There's something of Steve Reich's more vocal compositions too in this, like Tehillim or Desert Music

Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey, all! My daughter went on some fair rides this week and still complains of vertigo. Read up a little about BPPV and found it takes a few days for the crystals in the ears to get back to normal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
fred:

@Jeff g: mine is "intersectionality". I'm regularly called on to explain what it is at work, and I have a hard time not mouthfumbling it. Totally ruins my cred, which is a good thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
Webhamster Henry:

That cartoon background is probably by Maurice Noble, who did all the cool WB cartoon layouts, especially with Chuck Jones. But I'm not sure if he was doing that in 1943.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
fred:

Is that the Akaten project that is part of the Japanese New Music Festival tours? These shows are so much fun
Avatar 1:22pm
Mayuko:

Hi Jeff G, melinda! Welcome! Hallo Ken!!
Thanks for the Kurt info Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@WH - Yes, the image seems to be from the Wackiki cartoon from 1943. youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
fred:

Mayuko, did you see Prince Rama at Monty Hall?
Avatar 1:31pm
Mayuko:

No, I missed Prince Rama - I missed Senyawa too - all these interesting things I've missed!
Avatar 1:33pm
Mayuko:

I didn't know Akaten was part the Japanese New Music Festival tours, fred, did you see their show too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
listener james from westwood:

Ken: Did someone mention benign paroxysmal positional vertigo? I have that now and again! I had it last week!! Did you or the doc (if you visited one) mention anything about the Epley manuever? Her case is her case, not mine, to be abundantly clear, but it works for me in case it's been posed as a solution or came up in your research.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
fred:

I saw 3 editions of Japanese New Music Festival; It's basically Yoshida Tatsuya, Tsuyama Atsushi and Kawabata Makoto, playing solo, duo and trio sets, having fun and doing whatever they want. The last time I saw them (a couple of years ago), that ended with a silent encore miming a AMT shredding set. Very fun shows
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
fred:

I guess I didn't answer you question (or mine): if that's the Tsuyama/Yoshida Akaten project, I saw them there, and it was very fun. But I never saw them outside this weird setting
Avatar 1:46pm
Mayuko:

oh yes! it's Yoshida Tatsuya & Tsuyama Astushi indeed! Did they really bring in all the toothbrush and pet bottle and cicadas and all to the stage?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
fred:

I don't remember the cicadas, but toothbrush action was involved. Vegetable slicing and even hacking too, so maybe sensitive souls should abstain
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
fred:

Clark Naito/Buffalornckee was another great segue
Avatar 1:57pm
Mayuko:

Thanks fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
fred:

Best vegetable slicing show: Stefania Pedretti, amplified cooking ends with a lucky audience member invited to share the end result
Avatar 2:01pm
Mayuko:

haha! a music show coming with a meal sounds pretty great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
listener james from westwood:

And on that note, I'm hungry. Thanks for the musical smorgasbord, Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
fred:

Liat Dror and Nir Ben Gal had a dance show where the dancers made bread on stage and shared it with the audience at the end of the show, that was in the late 90's. I'm biased, but I think dance is often ahead
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
fred:

Actually, I think this has a lot to do with Akaten
  2:18pm
david:

This is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm

What a treat! You should chat with DJ ALF, he's a friend of Billy Jam, and was stationed on Okinawa for a while. I only got to know this because it shows in is music
Avatar 2:22pm
Mayuko:

Thanks james, have a great week! hello david!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm

This Tatsuko Touyama song is so beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm

This song reminds me so much of Asadoya Yunta
Avatar 2:27pm
Mayuko:

Yah, that chorus. These are all amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm

My laptop crapped out during the mic break. So we're going overtime? Cool.
Avatar 2:30pm
Mayuko:

I wish DJ ALF was around at the station, or come to some meetup or something so that I can see him.
Avatar 2:31pm
Mayuko:

It's basically just me listening to new cds just arrived from Japan, Ike, not even really an overtime hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
fred:

@Mayuko: Just tell Billy Jam, he makes things happen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
fred:

Five cliicky stars in a row, this might be a record, to be broken with the next song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@ljfw - Hi...I was out mowing the lawn (weeds?) for a bit. I can tell her about the Epley maneuver. It can't hurt for her to try it. Thanks for pointing that out.
Avatar 2:43pm
Mayuko:

oh! I should have kept going on with Okinawa music to break that record, haha! I felt like I wanted to go somewhere from there, can't help as a DJ I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
fred:

I think I'll use that notebook to write down interesting dreams. It looks like an engineer's book, so it would be nice for a dream diary
Avatar 2:48pm
Mayuko:

Oh that's wonderful, fred! That's kind of what I was saying to Joe McG the other day - you can start real diary from one end, dream diary from the other end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
fred:

I once had a very weird dream of mine told on the air, on Amedeo's show, hearing it was weird squared
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Have a good week, Mayuko. Thanks for today's selections.
Avatar 2:59pm
Mayuko:

A real dream you had and Amadeo broadcasted it?! That must feel surreal to have someone speaking about your dream on the radio.
Avatar 3:00pm
Mayuko:

Thanks Ken and everyone, have a great week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm
fred:

See: you can pull it off. Don't plan anything, just have this 0 to one hour space to play whatever you want
Avatar 3:02pm
Mayuko:

haha, half of this extra set is like cheating though! but thanks for staying til the end with me fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm
fred:

That dream broadcast felt disappointing because the intense feeling didn't get through. It's told around 14:30 there: soundcloud.com...
The real weird thing is that someone on the playlists told me about the "angelics" before I knew it had been aired. I knew right there it was my dream he was talking about, but didn't know what to do with that
Avatar 3:28pm
Mayuko:

Just had a quick listening, I guess it all kinda sounded a little too awaken? Hard to beat "The Dreams" by Delia Derbyshire, I love that piece too much... that feeling of diving into subconsciousness/unconsciousness... some people know exactly how to put such intensity and essences expressed in the form of sound, I have no idea how they do it and I think it's amazing.
