Live performance by Essence Goldman (vocals, guitar), with Ben (bass), and Roger Rocha (guitars, vocals)

A daughter of San Franciscan "flower children," Essence Goldman has been channeling her life experiences into song since the 1990s. Essence has opened for the likes of Tom Petty, Shawn Colvin, Chris Isaac, Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Chrissie Hynde, to name a few, and has had music on major labels and TV shows, but national fame has been a bit elusive. Her latest, "Black Wings," channels her crumbling marriage into catchy, honest tunes. Essence Goldman, along with bassist Ben and guitarist Roger Rocha, dropped by to play a few of them on Irene's show.

I can't remember if the live one on Watching the Dark is the one from Live (More or Less) or another live one. There's many live Calvary Crosses....

Wouldn't mind seeing a Richard and Linda Thompson reunion tour.

Well, mostly bootlegs; but Thompson has released many live things in the last twenty+ years, and some of them have Calvary Cross in them. :-)

Hi Brian, Scraps, Rev.Rabbit and Tim! I'm not sure I know which other versions you're thinking of, Scraps. But I know Richard's performed it many times. Tim, I don't think a reunion between the two will happen. Linda doesn't perform live anymore.

But Watching the Dark was a 3-disc comp, and I don't remember if the live CC was a rerelease from Live More or Less (also Guitar, Vocal is the same one)

- talks about (literally) losing & regaining her voice - along w/ Linda Thompson!
  9:21pm
TimBk:

Hi Irene, I know it was 6 years ago and just a duet, but I pulled this from her wiki page:
Linda and Richard Thompson performed a duet at 12 June 2010 Meltdown Festival tribute concert to Kate McGarrigle, which Richard coordinated.

Not sure she has the voice these days at 69 to do even a mini tour? I absolutely love her voice.

Planned to watch the US/Costa Rica soccer game, but I don't get the channel with my cable package. Couple minutes web search and I'm streaming it on my phone with the go90 app. What a country! If mom calls, it ends, but can't leave mom hanging.
