1917 has widely been thot the year of 'The 1st Jazz Record' by the 'Original Dixieland Jass Band' (...who were Italians or something??...& tho' some rumbling about other recorded evidences) - so we've reached the Centennial.

...MonkeyBiz - packing all the people into the room on the ship...in the 20thCentury we had three stations via antenna - & they apparently owned movies they'd show once a year. When the Marx Bros. came up it was a treat. This way we were informed of the earlier part of the century - & thus the whole edifice of the 20thC recedes as one over the horizon of the sea of time (if accessible on YouTube & the like)...

The Hunter Thompson-Debbie Reynolds connection:
"According to Terry Gilliam's commentary on the Criterion DVD, in the scene where Raoul and Gonzo raise havoc at the Debbie Reynolds concert, the voice heard in that scene that is supposed to be Reynolds singing actually IS Reynolds. Gilliam is friends with Carrie Fisher, Reynolds' daughter, who spoke to her mother about recording a couple lines for the movie, and Reynolds agreed. "

It doesn't end up harming the book - just one vivid illustration. (It got to where everything Kewl had to presented by Johnny Depp - but that's ok. So we have the same heroes - we're the same age...) There was already Ralph Steadman - which is definitive.
