Quick hello, got to turn over the chicken run on this unseasonally warm and dry day. Lots of wriggly worms to be caught and eaten.
Some unseasonably? digging music needed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38am
Jeff Golick:

Ain't nobody here but us chickens, so much obliged, @Brian in UK! I'll check in with the Diggers....
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 8:49am
Brian in UK:

Jeff. S'funny you should mention the Diggers. I was only thinking of them the other day, something triggered my thoughts on when they held the Death of the Hippy March in SF some time around Aug/Sept '67. I think it was the thought that so many things happen on the street, like hippies and punk then eventually get to the mainstream

No one can ever "play out" an album for me. If I tire of something, it's my responsibility. I think you're talking about the masses stripping my precious totem of its cool veneer of obscurity...and that's *my* problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am

I experienced that problem when I heard The Sonics under a Range Rover tv ad.

Well - I frankly didn't discover 'PetSounds' or 'ForeverChanges' until the 90s. The awe of that - & realizing Pet was right there behind Pepper all along...& then everybody's on it. But you're right - they don't get old for me.
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 10:33am
Uncle Michael:

I'd say 'adjacent'. Corporations trying to use your cultural associations as levers. This presumes there are more than a few people for whom the Sonics are a cultural association. Otherwise, something else is going on.
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 10:34am

See Rev, you're part of the problem...you yuppie.

A dead Artist can't consent. Jim Morrison didn't consent. TheBeatles struggle for their Publishing Rights. A few seconds of a tune isn't that big a deal. Every commercial is B.S. & we all know it instinctively anyhow (if they think I'm buying a car the joke's on them). When it goes counter what they tune's about - it's just a dumb style choice...Commercials *are* a dumb style choice...

  11:10am

The building in which I work features a central staircase enclosed in a boxy glass atrium. From one view the stairway proceeding to the floor below appears in front of you through the glass, which prevents your getting to it directly, even though it's *right there*. You have to spiral around the atrium. I call it the Escher stairway.

Would love to hear Braxton solo at FIMAV. Before moving to Bay Area I visited to hear three of the five nights of Ghost Trance Music at Yoshi's, both shows each night. Visited the old downtown Berkeley Public Library during the visit. The music room was playing a record: Braxton.

Funny I was listening to Clem Burke's drumming recently. I know different style, but what a crisp drummer, no finer for a pop tune. Drives the thing along.
