So after waking up unintentionally and frustratingly a couple hours earlier than desired this morning, then having a busy section of the day, I napped fitfully into the evening, with dreams of being drunk. Now how will I get squared-up sleep soon tonight? I need music that will achieve a full system reset.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm
Little Danny:

Hyde and still b/p! Delighted to have you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
Little Danny:

@still b/p: I love this challenge. What sort of music or mood would help secure a reset?
Avatar 10:06pm
hyde:

@still b/p dang. i've been sleeping weird all week, myself. what is with that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm

I had some too-realistic dreams last night. Gorgonzola-related

hi all! Just konked out a bit myself.

I think spring introduces sleep stumbles for me -- the changing earlier light and maybe something in human seasonal response messing more subtley with circadian mojo.

This show always enjoyable, Danny, so your brand of normal HAS to be beneficial, I gotta think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm
Little Danny:

Thanks still b/p - here's to hoping for a show of clarity and focus for you!

Worked a fairly standard M - F daytime schedule for more than 30 years. When last place of long-time employment went out of business 4 1/2 years ago, I just didn't get back in the regular work grid. I'm sure the great variation and irregularities in timings and choices haven't helped. System says, "WHAT you DOING?"

Speaking (hearing) of organs, among the proposals submitted for whoosamajerko's border construction: "a semi-continuous wall of nearly 10 million pipe organs."
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:40pm

one source states Billy Preston was 14 when he recorded volcano -which would be 1960. (so as you said -probably his first release)

10,000,000 pipe organs? we might be able to hear it in upstate ny! (or feel it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm

In 1974, my afro was bigger than Billy Preston's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
Little Danny:

NGH! The three Ocho LPs on UA-Latino have survived many purges of my record collection's Latin section. I love them.

Where are your records?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
Little Danny:

You can't just say things like that and not post photos, Doug
Avatar 10:47pm

The plan calls for spaces between the organs. Anyone passing through is supposed to stop and play for two minutes.

Kids used to throw pencils into my head from across the room. Once I tried to swat a pencil away and it impaled the palm of my right hand. Forty years later, I still have a graphite-colored scar there.
Avatar 10:59pm
northguineahills:

I can still see about a half-dozen pieces of graphite floating in my palms...most (accidentally) self-inflicted.
Avatar 10:59pm
still b/p:

Speaking of throwing things, just saw that Trump, man of so many "stay out" pronouncements, sent 50 Tomahawks to a Syrian airbase tonight. But no more news now....muuuuuusic only.
Avatar 11:00pm

My records are in storage. I just had an interview today, and they'll know in two week if they'll have the budget for the position. Will be nice to have my own place again.

Doug Schulkind:

On the last day of 9th grade, riding the bus home, two girls stuck their cigarette in my hair and it caught on fire. From across the bus, Becky Lahargue, all 200+ pounds of her, came diving atop me and put my flaming head out in the folds of her stomach.

Hours later at home, my mother picked up the phone and, hearing the story from another kid's mother, yelled at me with horror, "Douglas, next time you TELL ME when you hair catches on fire on the school bus!!"
Avatar 11:02pm
still b/p:

"Douglas, you sit next to Becky on the bus every day!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm

I felt guilty for years after having never thanked Becky. I was just so mortified by the whole thing.

Avatar 11:12pm
northguineahills:

The only time I've ever caught my hair on fire, it was also self-inflicted. Lighters set too high, bbqs gone amiss, getting a little too enthusiastic w/ the bonfire, etc. I'm probably unintentionally my worse enemy, yet, I've rarely seriously hurt myself. (one serious bike accident was my fault).

Our very-long-haired domestic cat Bluestar once caught his tail on fire in our menorah. Chasing a burning cat around the house is less fun than it sounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
Little Danny:

Poor Bluestar!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
coelacanth∅:

i've never caught on fire except a few hairs now and then. (which is sort of weird, since i've nearly always had long hair and am not particularly cautious.)
- i have caught my boots on fire though.
Avatar 11:17pm
still b/p:

There were enough miraculous cat tails to keep the Temple lit for eight days or nine lives or something.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:17pm

A friend way back used to like to take match packs from restaurants, stick them in his coat pocket, which shot out flames as we left one establishment.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:18pm
coelacanth∅:

still b/p haha!
... but really, i hope bluestar was okay.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:20pm

Never burned myself, though I've been hit in the head with a baseball bat, and done all sorts of damage to myself falling off bicycles.
Avatar 11:20pm
still b/p:

....and, lo, what radio show is being warmed by all this talk of fire incidents?
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
coelacanth∅:

damn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
Doug Schulkind:

I am happy to report Bluestar has survived at least 10 more menorahs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm

Haha, still b/p. The fires of foolish and callow youth still burn on this radio show!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:24pm

I got Buffalo Springfield Again as a teen and pretty much played the 3 Neil tunes to death.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm
Little Danny:

Those are my faves too MrF
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
coelacanth∅:

Neil's a genius.
maybe his lyrics have become elementary, preachy and even a bit silly at times; and his music fairly predictable -even recycled.....
still - he's a genius.
Avatar 11:32pm
still b/p:

Fredereek very Who-ey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm

Coel: do you have any fave Neil Young albums to recommend? I'm woefully unaware of his discography, aside from the classic rock hits
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm

Yes indeed still b/p! Flipside of that 45 is superb, too
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:37pm

Tonight's The Night is really raw Young. After The Gold rush is a classic. And Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere had one of the great one note guitars solos.
  11:37pm
MrFab:

Whoah Danny, don't get me started on Neil! Apart from his s/t debut, nothing he did ever sounded like that orchestrated Buffalo Spring-stuff. But can't go wrong with "After The Gold Rush" or "Everybody Knows This Is nowhere.".
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
coelacanth∅:

LD, i still like "everybody knows this is nowhere"; "zuma"; and "on the beach" the best.
but close behind: "tonight's the night"; "after the gold rush"; "harvest"...

Danny -not to dwell on it, but there are a few cuts on NY albums not mentioned that i feel you'd like, though not great albums overall.
"powderfinger"& "pocohontas" from rust never sleeps; "four strong winds" from comes a time; "the old laughing lady" from neil young; "star of bethlehem" & "will to love" from american stars and bars; "campagner" & "down to the wire" on the compilation "decade".
