I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
fred:

I saw a surprisingly nice dance show this week, surprising because it featured many words, and I usually dislike that. A Japanese dancer I like a lot (Kaori Ito) with her father (Hiroshi Ito) who's in his seventies but has more energy that me. He's an artist and had designed a sculpture made of a pile of chairs wrapped in black fabric atop a shopping cart that was the only thing apart from a couple of chairs on stage.
Avatar 1:31pm
Mayuko:

@fred Those words were in French?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
fred:

Yeah, she's been living in France for a while. Her father sang a song in Japanese at some point, but never talked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Webhamster Henry:

Hi Mayuko ! I'll have to catch the beginning of the show in the archives, but it's good stuff for a rainy day in May!
Avatar 1:37pm
Mayuko:

(The CD player here and streaming and your speakers and all are fine, just FYI)
Avatar 1:38pm
Mayuko:

@fred, ha, I see, I was curious about that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Parq:

Thanks, M. You saved me the trouble of asking.
Avatar 1:39pm
Mayuko:

Good afternoon, Webhamster Henry! The weather this spring has not been to nice to us here but the music will always be nice to us!
Avatar 1:42pm
Mayuko:

@Parq haha! I realized that it sounded almost exactly the same the way drummer stream getting hick-up when a show switching to the following program.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
fred:

Wow, this Frederic Rzewski is amazing!
Avatar 1:44pm
Mayuko:

I heard yesterday on Daniel Blumin's show that Anjou is on tour & coming to NYC on May 22nd, at (le) poisson rouge. lpr.com...
Avatar 1:46pm
Mayuko:

@fred Yes! And it should be played at full blast!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
fred:

I seems he did an unreleased piece where I work 40 years ago, which is when it had just opened. I'll have to ask the remaining old-timers about that
Avatar 1:50pm
Mayuko:

Everytime I listen to this "Coming Together", I think of Flash Strap for some reason. Reminds me of the way his mic breaks sound enthusiastic and full of love for what he's playing, maybe.
Avatar 1:50pm
Mayuko:

@fred Frederic Rzewski did? I'm curious!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
coelacanth∅:

must check out a minute early but
Extraordinary program Mayuko! Thank you
take care people, and others
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
Parq:

M @ 1:42 -- part of the fun of listening to FMU, especially on line, is never being quite sure. The fist time I ever heard that buffering problem, it was on Byrce's show. I listened to it for several minutes before suspecting it was a digital problem and not an experimental piece.
Avatar 1:55pm
Mayuko:

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, coelacanth∅. thanks for listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
Parq:

Many is the time I've been listening and suddenly heard a siren, a machine grinding, or some other ambient sound, and had to turn off FMU to know for sure whether or not it was part of the piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm
fred:

There is a French label named "Inédit", but it's focused on ethnomusicology, so I'm guessing the word means "unreleased" here. That's all I found (in French, we work for the ministry of culture): brahms.ircam.fr...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Webhamster Henry:

@Parq, People Like Us's original 2012 Boredcast was plagued by dropouts and other noise. Fortunately, you can experience it on the Boredcast stream in perfect shape!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
fred:

@Parq: even DJs can get confused: I remember Jason Forrest aka Donna Summer saying he only realized there was an encoding issue halfway through a breakcore track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
Webhamster Henry:

In the early days of testing the WFMU Radio stream, sometimes a 30 second buffer would repeat a few times and there was no real way to know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
Parq:

Great show, M. Perfect for today's mood. Have a good afternoon and stay dry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
fred:

Weirdly, Poisson Rouge (red fish) is French for Goldfish
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

One time my VLC player got stuck repeating 30 or so seconds over and over. It took me 20 minutes to look at it and see if there was something amiss. I just assumed it was part of the program.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
Parq:

Ken, right! With this station, you just can't be sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
fred:

Thanks Mayuko! I'll miss most if not all of the show next week, I'll be at a show of traditional poetry/music from Iran
  2:09pm
rbrt:

thanx mayuko!
  2:10pm
Jesse k:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar 2:11pm

Thanks again everyone for listening! See you next week (and enjoy the Iranian poetry show, fred!)
