Was Geo Tipton affiliated at some point with Nilsson, or am I thinking of someone else?
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:19pm DennisK:

George Beresford Tipton....?
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:19pm cometothesunshine:

he was the reason Nilsson even had a career!
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:20pm cometothesunshine:

he mortgaged his house so Nilsson could record and arranged his sessions from 1964 through 1970.

Claus Ogerman! Creator of many of my favorite now sound records (esp. Saxes Mexicanos), aside from his Lesley work of course...
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:22pm cometothesunshine:

Here is Rick Nelson inventing every Snuff Garrett record back in 1963.
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:22pm DennisK:

Aloha Jen
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:23pm cometothesunshine:

Surprisingly, Snuff made records just like this from 1964-1968
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:23pm DennisK:

LOL, indeed Andrew

I can confirm I will have your shirt to Kat tomorrow.
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:26pm DennisK:

That SM album was like the BBs Friends album: clocked in at about 23 minutes, and you KNOW the tracks went on well beyond the fadeouts. Damn!
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:27pm cometothesunshine:

I heard Darian bought a stack of documents relating to Friends
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:28pm DennisK:

I see he arrived in the Netherlands (I think...) today for a tour - is that with Brian, or The Zombies?
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:28pm cometothesunshine:

not sure
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:28pm DennisK:

Wow, this has an interesting sound to it. That effect on the snare

it is a truly crazy production/arrangment
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:30pm DennisK:

Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:37pm cometothesunshine:

very excited for you to hear Anthony & The Imperials
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:37pm DennisK:

So I was purging records from my racks today, preparing for a sell-off at Princeton Record Exchange, and I found a record that I had been looking through my stacks for - for THREE YEARS. I really need to do a better job of filing.
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:38pm DennisK:

The Bully Boys, "Movie Greats" - I had been looking for that for each and every episode of "The B-List". Oh well.....
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:38pm cometothesunshine:

i keep finding records I have forgotten that I've bought
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:39pm cometothesunshine:

I have quite a box of duplicates to sell (and triplicates)
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:39pm DennisK:

Anthony may be my soundtrack for the ride home from Long Island tomorrow - I may have to jump before the end of the show :-(
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:39pm DennisK:

Yeah, I found a few of those the too....
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:40pm DennisK:

It's tough when I have to decide between selling the mono or the stereo of a record that I never play
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:41pm DennisK:

"Produced by The Social Climbers".....Lordy
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:42pm cometothesunshine:

keep 'em both
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:42pm DennisK:

How did I know you'd say that?
Mon. 6/26/17 6:42pm Doug in Boston:

Last night, for the first time in ages, I listened to my LP copy of "The Association's Greatest Hits". It sounds awful, and I wanted to know if other's agreed. They sure do, and that led me down the rabbit hole of learning about the Haeco-CSG circuit.
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:43pm DennisK:

Laying the groundwork for Jackie Lomax's Bearsville days, no doubt
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:43pm cometothesunshine:

I don't have the greatest hits lp - but most CSQ is murky and phasey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:43pm Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

Tom! I love him so much too!
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:43pm cometothesunshine:

Welcome, Glynis! OTHER TIMES!
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:45pm uptownjen:

Andrew, if you come across an extra copy of that Power Plant single or Paul Jones' "And the Sun Will Shine," let me know!
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:45pm cometothesunshine:

sure- I never see the Paul Jones
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:46pm cometothesunshine:

Playing The Dog Presides again on next week's show
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:46pm uptownjen:

Dennis, I'm guilty of getting behind on my filing as well. Working in a record store, I always have tons of new stuff.
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:46pm cometothesunshine:

It will be a conversation with Harold Bronson about his British Invasion book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:47pm Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

LORDS! I know all the guys in this band!
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:47pm uptownjen:

Love that side as well...That Power Plant is all because of you. "She's So Far Out She's In" is a great track!
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:48pm cometothesunshine:

  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:48pm DennisK:

Occupational hazard, Jen!
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:48pm uptownjen:

Ooh. That sounds like another great show! Really, they're all so fun and informative. ❤️
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:50pm cometothesunshine:

I have a lot of editing still to do on that one - eek!
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:50pm DennisK:

Is this the singer from Vanity Faire???
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:51pm DennisK:

  Mon. 6/26/17 6:51pm uptownjen:

Andrew, didn't someone else do that PJ B-side as well? You talked about it on the Peter Asher episode I've listened to tons of times, I think.
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:51pm DennisK:

God, it really sounded like him!
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:52pm uptownjen:

Our store was just voted best record store in Chicago! We are thrilled!

Wow! Well Jen, if I ever get to Chicago.....
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:53pm cometothesunshine:

yes, Peter Asher produced The Dog Presides
  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:53pm DennisK:

The Dog Presides, The Dude Abides....
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:54pm uptownjen:

I thought it was someone else's version, though. Hmm...
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:55pm cometothesunshine:

Paul Jones wrote it
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:55pm cometothesunshine:

  🎃 Mon. 6/26/17 6:57pm DennisK:

Looking forward to hearing Anthony tomorrow!
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:58pm uptownjen:

Laurie's Planet of Sound is just an unpretentious store that feels comfortable for everyone from kids just starting out to older people who are rebuying the records they loved in their youth. It was my favorite record store before I started working here. It's not a crate digging shop...it's lovingly curated.
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 6:58pm cometothesunshine:

I will have to check it out on my next trip!
  Mon. 6/26/17 6:59pm uptownjen:

I have to get back to work, too! Have a lovely week, everyone!
Mon. 6/26/17 7:00pm Doug in Boston:

TuneIn Pro lets me go back, so forgive me for falling behind, but I had to hear Hazy People again.
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 7:01pm cometothesunshine:

wow, Doug. I was unsure if "Hazy People" was really good, but it is certainly unusual.
  Mon. 6/26/17 7:01pm uptownjen:

We'd love to have you, Andrew! CTTS friends should all stop by!
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 7:01pm cometothesunshine:

bye for now, Jen!
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 7:03pm cometothesunshine:

I love this Anthony & The Imperials stuff - it is great to hear it all together. It is spread over so many 45's and LPs.
Mon. 6/26/17 7:23pm Doug in Boston:

Very impressive "You Only Live Twice"! In parts, there's almost a feeling of "Kiss Me Goodbye" by Petula.
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 7:25pm cometothesunshine:

these are great recordings, Doug
Avatar Mon. 6/26/17 7:59pm cometothesunshine:
