bouncy indeed!!!
  3:11am
markr:

Welcome, Mike!

BEAVO:

Checking in from Athens Georgia home of REM, yes the song is So. Central Rain not necessarily "southern". Apart from I'm Sorry, the rest of the "lyrics" are just mumbling.
  3:12am
markr:

I saw it written out as "Southern" today on the deluxe edition, but the person who wrote that could just as likely be mistaken!
Avatar 3:13am
BEAVO:

Southern would be just S. not So.
Avatar 3:15am
BEAVO:

Ea We No? No.
  3:16am
markr:

Well, at least we can all agree that it's a cool tune!
Avatar 3:18am
BEAVO:

Little America is my favorite on Reckoning.
Avatar 3:19am
BEAVO:

Serious Bop!
  3:19am
markr:

I don't think there's a bad song on that album.
Avatar 3:20am
BEAVO:

I guess BG is pre bop.

This is one with Sing Sing with A Swing.
  3:24am

That's the one, Beavo!

Mike Mills is a great guy certain other members have a reputation around Athens not so much.
  3:26am
Mike tp:

superduper Mingus
Avatar 3:27am
BEAVO:

But I won't go there even though I kinda just did!
  3:27am
markr:

You're talking about Stipe, of course. Well, if being a nice guy was a prerequisite for airplay, I wouldn't have too many choices. I don't think even Beethoven would make the cut. Yea, Mike, that Mingus album has grown to be an all-time favorite.

Lawsuite! Randy California wrote that!
Avatar 3:29am
BEAVO:

Well the first few notes anyway I'll shut up now an d listen, greet show!
  3:29am
markr:

I'm familiar with "Taurus," and I have to say, while Led Zeppelin undoubtedly plagiarized a lot of tunes, I don't think this is one of them. There are some similarities, but not enough. That's just my opinion. (And the judge's.)
  3:30am
Mike tp:

thanks Mark for the sounds.reslly tasty.turning in!!
  3:31am
markr:

Glad you're enjoying, Beavo, and I'm enjoying your comments. You've been a regular listener since Day One for me, and of the station probably for decades, right?
Avatar 3:32am
BEAVO:

True nobody ever mentions the Small Faces tune that was pretty much note for note on How Many More Times, not to mention Dazed And Confused.
Avatar 3:33am
BEAVO:

Right on!
Avatar 3:33am
BEAVO:

Thanks Mark.
  3:38am
markr:

"Dazed and Confused" has been well-documented. Hadn't heard about the Small Faces tune, but it doesn't surprise me one bit. It wouldn't surprise me to find out they'd stolen every single song they "wrote." The cats sure could play, thought, I'll give 'em that.

Guido from Cologne:

Good morning Mark!
I happen to consider the Early Years box.

Led Zep?
Ha!
Copycat behaviour even started in the late Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page "composed" Davy Grahams improvisations on "She Walked Through The Fair" !962 rare EP) and just added some tablas.

Guido from Cologne:

... good old Ummagumma ...
... possibly the most influential album by the Floyd ...
... encouraged generations of experimental musicians ...
... "if EMI publishes stuff like tat" ...
  4:04am
markr:

Me too, Guido, but it's so damned expensive! We have an abbreviated 2-disc version here at the station.

listener james from westwood:

Would have loved to see these two in concert during the current tour.

Should be a great show, James!
