Gaylord, I'm in on the ground floor for once!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm

@JakeGould: I'm not going to tell you what to think.

@Carmichael: If I get too loud, bang on the ceiling with a broom.

@melinda: Hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
Gaylord Fields:

@geezerette: That's the correct answer to Duke Edwards' question!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm

Hello!!
  8:15pm
P-90:

Hi Gaylord and friends.
  8:17pm
ike:

Duke Edwards: was he really pining for an idealized, supposedly perfect past era? Was I missing something there? Was that just an unreliable narrator? Is it too political to say that misguided nostalgia for some nonexistent past is a big threat to humanity? Great song nonetheless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm
Gaylord Fields:

@unpopularfred: @ike: As Faulkner once said, "The past is never dead. It's not even past."
Avatar 8:18pm
geezerette:

ha, cheers to that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm
Gaylord Fields:

@sugarwolf: Hello!!

@P-90: Hi!
  8:21pm
BronwynB:

I heard the other spoken track from the Duke Edwards album -- Man -- last year when Donna played it and it seemingly burrowed deep into my soul and almost made me cry. I can't forget the intensity and passion of his delivery. He sounds close to tears at some points which is hard to listen to but in our age of detachment it's incredible to hear someone who's baring it all on record like that.
  8:21pm
cheri:

well Gaylord, i think i posted enough, it's great to hear from you again! goodnight all
  8:28pm
mr c:

love the GF bossa cd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
Gaylord Fields:

@BronwynB: Both tracks are so aggressively vulnerable, which is a seeming paradox.
Avatar 8:28pm
geezerette:

@BronwynB: It hit me the same way. Beautifully put.

@Gaylord: Thanks for this spirit of grace.
  8:29pm
Kyle J:

I love your musical sensibilities - punk, cinematic and droney french stuff. Great!
  8:29pm
BronwynB:

@Gaylord: agreed, that's a great way of putting it.

thanks geezerette!
  8:32pm
cheri:

ohh Gaylord, may i add it's a my pleasure to listen to you! glad you're back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm

@mr c: Thanks! I was hoping you would.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Kyle J: I appreciate the kind words about your enjoyment of my radio program.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
unpopularfred:

I don't know if you meant to lump me in with Ike, but my reaction was more like BronwynB's than his. I live in Boston, I know the past is not gone.

oh man, the Last Poets!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Gaylord Fields:

@unpopularfred: That wasn't my intention. I should have replied with the same line in two separate posts to make my point more clear.
  8:47pm
JakeGould:

Nice Slits track choice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm
Gaylord Fields:

@JakeGould: It's the only song I had planned on playing tonight. Everything else leads to and away from it for this set.
  8:52pm
JakeGould:

@GaylordFields: It’s a tentpole song that brings it all together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm
Gaylord Fields:

Precisely, JakeGould!
Avatar 8:53pm
geezerette:

@Gaylord: This is one of your most beautiful shows.

Not flattery. Not looking for response.

Am I too late?
  9:23pm
JakeGould:

@UncleMichael: In what sense?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: Duke Edwards would probably say no, and I concur.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
Uncle Michael:

I thank you and Duke, Gaylord.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
Uncle Michael:

Anyone else goin 'clipsin' tomorrow?
  9:29pm
Carmichael:

Everyone is 'clipsin tomorrow. Just some more than others.
  9:30pm
JakeGould:

I’m taking my usual lunch break near Union Square when that happens. It will be interesting to see how the park’s “characters” react to a partial blotting of the sun.

Will you be in the “Path of Totality” Uncle Michael?
  9:30pm
sugarwolf:

I have to be at work at 1 so no eclipse for me, I guess???

My friends are taking a family trip to TN right now to see it.
  9:32pm
DJ E:

one of my jobs gave me eclipse glasses for free, but my other job will probably have me inside when it is happening. so goes my life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm
Uncle Michael:

We're aiming to be dead center in the path, for maximum duration. It may prove impossible to reach our preferred spot. Crowded roadways are to expected. We're rolling out at about 8:30 AM, about three hours before the eclipse begins.
  9:33pm
JakeGould:

@UncleMichael: Best wishes to your journey into the darkness!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm

The horror...the horror...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm

Thank Jake.

Get up on a building. That's my advice.
  9:41pm
