	♥ 1:25pm listener james from westwood: Major milestones in the black experience in America were covered in my public-school classes from '76 through '83 —slave trade, then the Civil War, then the Reconstruction, then blip forward to Dr. King—but never the lasting effects on both white and black Americans, other major figures in black culture, politics, or civil rights, or the enduring institutional racism in ways like redlining, effects on neighborhoods, differences in opportunity, etc. Kids left that school in 6th grade thinking all was well.
