I can't get enough of her. Whatta voice. One of my very favorite voices of the UK folk scene in fact

this Mickey is the absolute groove
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Little Danny:

Agreed. It's such a stoner groove.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
JtotheK:

i liked the symphonic four track, very much.
  10:30pm
MrFab:

Yo!
Love that Chocolate Watchband. And the Electric Tomorrow, heh, those goofy psych band names. They were probably originally called like the Rumble Teens or the Surfers IV or sumthin, but had to grow their hair out a bit and change their name by '67.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:34pm

I love the psych names too. Rumble Teens would have been good too.

hi Danny and bleuets

was trying to relocate to the basement between shows, but couldn't turn off Anne Briggs. (even though i have the album!)
then tried to put the dogs to bed but the female had some energy she didn't know what to do with so we played; now i'm hot.
any beer left?

Hey everybody, serious question: how are my levels tonight? New audio console here.
  10:45pm

Audio sounds great, both tunes and talks.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:45pm

levels are sounding good to me. i'm tuned in via the app.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
coelacanth∅:

levels good i think. your voice maybe a teensie-bit higher than the music? -it works for my situation. i always have to turn up Evan during mic breaks, and certain others i must turn down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Little Danny:

Hello again coel! Let me rummage around for some suds. It might all be like unopened Yuengling from like 1989 tho.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Little Danny:

Okay! Thanks y'all
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
JtotheK:

i have some blatz in the fridge...
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
coelacanth∅:

vintage '89 huh? not sure, uh...is it still liquid? okay i'll try it.
  10:49pm
MrFab:

Wild Records as in the contemporary LA label?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
Little Danny:

Oh for certain. I hear '89 was actually a pretty good vintage for Pottsville's finest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Little Danny:

Nope! Album title! It was on Tower Records. Just like the Chocolate Watchband
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
coelacanth∅:

do they still make blatz?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Dano59:

Unopened Yuengling may be the best Yuengling. I have Sangria here and various beer types in their own minifridge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
Dano59:

Digging the late nite sounds
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
JtotheK:

@coel re: blatz - yep, still made! it's a cheapo beer of choice. along with hamms, and high life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
Little Danny:

Dano! Here you are!

And thank you
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:58pm
coelacanth∅:

i think yuengling is good beer, for cheap beer. i'd drink it if there were no miller or schlitz around...if there were only bud, pbr, corona, sam adams, micholob, coors (etc) around i'd choose nothing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Dano59:

I was a little late at the gate Danny.
Just looked up the Blatz locator on their site. Apparently widely available in the upper midwest but not here in NY. Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin ... so far
  11:00pm
MrFab:

Never heard of Yuengling so I looked it up - only available in 14 states, none near the West. How the heck do you pronounce it? (Rolling Rock is my fave cheapo beer.)
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
coelacanth∅:

ha i remember hamms too! my older brother relentlessly experimented with beer selection. sometimes that worked out for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
Dano59:

Ying-gling is how we say it. I am not a fan tho I like lagers. Also cannot drink PBR.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
Dano59:

This playlist is making me thirsty!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
coelacanth∅:

that's odd; blatz used to be available in new jersey, for sure. it's odd too that the oldest brewery in the country is only available in 14 states.
...odd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
Little Danny:

Fun fact: the night I met my partner of 12 years she and I cracked open a can of ten-year-old Budweiser. Bonding, yes! Delicious, I don't remember!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
coelacanth∅:

(i say ylang ylang, because i'm a weirdo.)
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
JtotheK:

i'm glad that a "blatz locator" exists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
Little Danny:

@Dano: I think it's the close "Ying-Ling."
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
coelacanth∅:

there are some beers that i don't mind the taste of but they give me a headache. pbr is one of those.
  11:10pm
MrFab:

My brother visited Chicago and in a when-in-Rome mood ordered an Old Style.
Waitress: Are you from Chicago?
Bro: No.
Waitress: Er...you don't want an Old Style.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
coelacanth∅:

haha! what's an "old style"?
  11:15pm

Freebird!!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:15pm

was the old style properly krausened?

Little Danny:

Hi Carmichael: next time, mon frere
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
Dano59:

Os Mutantes played here a couple years ago. Legendary.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
JtotheK:

@carmichael - i also enjoy a good ipa. i've been enjoying the 'sessionable' variety lately, the stronger IPAs, double IPAs/imperial IPA's tend to make me sleepy, quickly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Little Danny:

This fire's already been lit, coel
  11:24pm
MrFab:

coel: Old Style is the cherished venerable pisswater of Chicagoland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
Little Danny:

Dano: I skipped their show due to my anti-reunion snobbery. Big regret.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
coelacanth∅:

so "old style" is actually the brand. well, considering what some people drink - how bad can it be?
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
coelacanth∅:

i think it's all a matter of what one's used to, for the most part. if a brew is of very low quality ingredients and manufacturing method, most people cannot tell...and some beers that are of high quality in those regards, i think taste terrible. (like most german beers i've tried)
  11:31pm
Dean:

Damn, those first two or three Chicago albums were SOLID.
Avatar 11:31pm
still b/p:

Rolling Rock's apparent success to rebrand itself and climb to a higher stature always made me smirk a little. When I was young it was the sixpack of last resort, budget-wise, because it cost less than two dollars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
Little Danny:

I've never heard them, Dean. Also, hello!
  11:32pm
Dean:

You have missed out, @LD.
  11:34pm
Dean:

My motivation being, apropos of snobbery, that I don't generally appreciate Brazilian music. (Exceptions include Villa-Lobos and Badi Assad.) Astrud's cover of the early Chicago tune was good, but it made me yearn for the original.
  11:36pm
Dean:

As for beer, I'm a total fucking snob. Triple IPAs or GTFO.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
coelacanth∅:

still bp, i remember rr being dirt cheap; but schmits (sp?) was the one we drank the most. $8.00 for 24 pint bottles, and we actually liked it! i don't like rolling rock much; but it really doesn't have that much flavor to dislike!
... ultimately my favorites are higher-end. irish stouts, scottish ales... but i have no problem drinking miller, genesee or schlitz.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
JtotheK:

@Dean - triple IPAs, oh my. i had a founders triple IPA... but even though i like them, don't drink triple IPA's on a regular (or semi-regular) basis.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
JtotheK:

Fabulous Souls! Turning this one up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
Little Danny:

Annoy yer neighbors, Jason!
  11:42pm
MrFab:

Oh no, we've driven off the ladies. Come back gals, tell us about white wine!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:44pm
coelacanth∅:

Dean, i don't like ipas. i had one, a few weeks ago - the better in a choice of 4 ipas, that i slightly enjoyed. i don't need to try an ipa again - probably ever.
...and @11.31 agreed! (at least the first one...excellent album)
  11:46pm
Dean:

@JtotheK: Depends on what you mean by "regular basis," I suppose. Weekly? Hell, yes. Two kinds of beer I generally do not like: watery stuff and pretentious brews (think Dogfish Head) that attempt a kitchen-sink approach and fail to balance the ingredients.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:47pm
coelacanth∅:

MrFab the one lady that was or is here doesn't drink alcohol! (doesn't necessarily mean she knows nothing of white, or other, wine)
  11:47pm
MrFab:

Chicago, when they were still known as Chicago Transit Authority, opened for the Velvet Underground for a few nights at the Whiskey a Go Go, around '69, True fact!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
JtotheK:

@Dean - regular basis defined less than a few times a year... in part because they aren't as common as IPAs/double IPAs, and in part because they seem to not be in 6 packs, and because as mentioned earlier ... if I have 1 i need to prepare for falling asleep shortly after.
  11:51pm
MrFab:

True fact #2: Bob Moog said that "Zodiac" was the 1st West Coast album using a Moog. it was actually all recorded, they went back and added Moogy overdubs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Little Danny:

I always figured Chicago for a lesser BS&T. Opinions?

p.s. I don't know either of their catalogs outside of the hits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm
Little Danny:

Those are both terrific facts MrF. Duly filed in my brain full of useless, esoteric music trivia
  11:54pm
Dean:

No way a "lesser" BS&T. Similar, yes, maybe by design. But Chicago did some crazy improv Dead-like shit early on. They also wanted to keep the brass front/center, where BS&T seemed to relegate them to mere ornaments of arrangement. Really, the first CTA album and Chicago II are pretty amazing.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:55pm
coelacanth∅:

chicago transit authority was considerably more badass than blood sweat & tears, i think. (not to dis bs&t)
people don't know this because chicago morphed into such absolute dreck; but it was very good in the beginning.
