Girl trio from the Washington High School in Phoenix formed by Donna and Pam Crunk with Janis Cox. In 1958 Donna and Pam ask the help of his father Connie Conway (real name is Connie Crunk) a musician, singer, songwriter, producer, and music teacher and this send the group to his friend songwriter/producer Lee Hazelwood who with Lester Sill signed the girls to record at the Audio Recorders studio in Phoenix . . . also recorded as The Cupcakes and The Dreams. So early Duane Eddy, recording with Lee Hazlewood in Phoenix, got mixed into this (though somehow his records were distributed on a Philly label)

The name, "Ichor of Nettle" is taken from a line from the Robert Frost poem, "Departmental". As for the definition, ichor in this case is the fluid that runs through the veins of a nettle.

The name "Ichor of Nettle" proves to be as arcane as the band named "Twas Brillig" (after the first two words in Lewis Carroll's "Jaberwocky").

The young trio has a real cute sound on these two attractive sides. Top Tune is a tribute to Presley via his army serial number. Flip, "Doowaddie," is a novelty item that also appears to have click potential. ["The Purple People Eater" also got the column's spotlight: "This is one of the funniest novelty songs in some time . . . Wooley handles the nonsense lyrics with strong effect . . ."]

The article says with the release of the THREETEENS disk REV Records instituted a no return policy, offset by cutting record prices from 42 to 34 cents. "To date Rev has had more orders and re-orders on the THREETEENS disk than on any of its last four releases." Expect record distributors to order more conservatively.

Both songs of this THREETEENS record were written by Trinity Music's Bob "Hutch" Davie and Marvin Moore in NY's Brill Building, after their only hit, 1956, "Green Door." At Canadian-American Records, Hutch Davie arranged Santos & Johnny's "Sleep Walk" in 1959 with producer Bob Crewe, then produced and arranged the label's other star LINDA SCOTT - I could smell it! - beginning in 1961. A founding partner of CAPRICE RECORDS, Hutch Davie arranged the Angel's "Til" and "Cry Baby Cry," 1961-62. Hutch Davie's arrangement of Bob Crewe Generation records included the 1966 hit version of "Music to Watch Girls By."
